Default Alternator Pulley Pissing Me Off!!!

Need to change the alternator, but the new one needs the pulley changed. I don't have a vice or an impact wrench, but have tried everything else I can think of to try and get it off. I've tried vice grips on the old belt to hold the pulley while trying to unscrew the bolt with a huge breaker bar. I've also tried using a C clamp, which broke in my hands. Any other ideas, or do I just need to take it somewhere to get it taken off?

I just took mine to O'Reillys and they went to the back and came back 5 seconds later with the pulley off

or u can get one of those offset box wrenches and hold the middle still while you try and wrench off the big nut, though that would take some muscle, i'd suggets you drive over to the nearest mech with ur altenator and blast it off

Go to advance auto parts or a place like that.

They might possibily have a tool to remove it.

Good luck

You really need an impact wrench, it makes thing so much easier.

You can rent one, or do what I did once. Buy one from Sears, use it once, return it.

I bought an inexpensive one which I still own, and used it when I did the pulley swap on my old Type R. Made it a 10 minute job.
