How long do B18 motors last?
how long do b18 motors last? i've seens ome go up to 160k mi for sale! thats crazzy coming from a former domestic fan who had to deal with teh fact that your car craps on you after 100k miles. what would be a good amount of mileage on lets say.. a 97 GSR or something around that range?
is it ok to modify a GSR with 100k+ miles on it?

i have an ls b18b and it is scratching the surface of a 100k and im just starting to seriously mod it. as far as a gsr motor it all depends on how well it was taken car of in the past. like tngay said they can last over 200k with the proper care. so yes a b18 is good for a good while and 100k is still very good to mod.
i've had every american car in my family die mysteriously at 120k miles, motor starts to go, tranny goes, electrical system has been repaired twice prior, etc it just seems a lil strange - but i'm learnin'!
i think i like this honda stuff
to start modding a car at 100k - thats just cool to me

Wil (owner of Exospeed) bought a bone stock 1990 Integra GS with 300,000+ miles on the original motor, I think he replaced the head at 360k+, and finally sold it with almost 400k on the block.
176k on my integra. running good till a rock rearranged my radiator.
what domestics were you getting? my mustang is over 240K and it's old. that sucker takes a beating and just won't die. engine rebuilt at 100k and it could eat my acura.

I just got done breaking mine in at 82xxx. I do about 1000 miles a week, so, I'm shootin for the 200k mark before I even consider getting a new car. Maybe...
personally, I am going for the high score... everything on the car can be replaced with better parts... milage dont mean anything if you can do your own work

about 2 & 1/2 yrs. ago i bought a neglected 94 gsr, that eventually died on me w 170,000 mi. (dead) or so they thought. it arose frm. the dead w/ ITR pistons/rods, spoon oil pump, ACT clutch/flywhl. holley fuel pump
, new distrbtr., spoon magtic. drain bolts & thermostat, skunk 2 short shifter w/ S2 shift ****
, unorthodox pulleys, full msd ignition system, i just put some new whlz. & rubber on them 17" enkei rsv (bronze) w/ bfg g-force sports, tanabe exuast (looking for replacement), dc headers (looking for replacement), three angle valve job, and had everything balanced. took a while but it was well worth every penny (i have all the receipts). i have 187,000 mi. now and runs like a bat out of hell, literally......i do not neglect it & i'm far from done w/ it.
so to answer your question mine is probably going to run forever. but will only be possible w/ tender loving care. flying towrads 20k in no time at ludicrus speed (remember spaceballs)
im going to have pics up soon, since i'm new to the site & just got this computer. so take care of her and she'll take care of you for many years to come, i'm sure.
