Default odd klunking sound, time for new ball joints?

any ideas what might be making a klunking sound from the frond driver's suspension area on an initial acceleration impulse. While crusing it's fine, it's just when the throttle is hit, i get this quiet klunk, like a big rock being kicked up or something.

Just replaced the front wheel bearing, the ball joints looked a bit worn, but other than that everything seems fine, car has 118k miles. Time for new ball joints?
