Default 93 Accord EX Igniter unit

Turns out that my igniter burnt out, So now the Honda dealer wants to change the igniter, rotor and cap, spark plugs and spark plug wires for $500. My rotor, cap and plugs have about 15K miles on them. He tells me that he has to pull the distributor to change the igniter unit. Is that true on the 1993 accord EX. I have the Honda service manual for the 90 accord, (I also have a 90 LX). The manual shows the igniter unit insde of the distributer cap. So does he really have to pull the distributor out? thanks jim

While you can replace the ignitor with the distributor in place, it's a real pain.
It's much quicker to just pull the distributor and R&R the ignitor.

You can always just go to napa or autozone and buy a rebuilt distributor and turn your old one in for the core charge.
