DOHC ZC into RT4wd Civic completed!
Sorry, but I'm thrilled. Finally got my damn winter car running, so now I can consentrate on my project. In case you didn't read the title, it's a red 1990 RT4wd Civic wagon... now with a DOHC ZC
I've got a pretty busy schedule right now, but I hope to have a full write up with all of my pics and the long story of how my swap came to be within a day or two. I actually gotta get a ride out to my buddy's shop, where we did the swap, to pick the car up here shortly (had to return the car I was borrowing, so I didnt get to drive it home yesterday when we finished it).
Here's a couple teaser pics...
"two cams are better than one"

tranny/transfer case

something is definately missing

the "mad scientist" waiting for my *** to put the camera down

what I really did the whole time while watching the doctor work

Nice little pic with the webs before I throw the studs on

I really need to throw some elbow grease into cleaning up the engine bay, but this is a pretty good pic. If you look close, you can see my plug wires are sticking out. That's because the D16 ones are longer. I'm gonna stop by Schmucks and pickup some new wires for a 1st gen Integra

Tryed to do my best "I've got 4wd" pic. Then I remembered I still had my balding Potenza's on. Did great on our shitty roads even with that rubber. Gonna throw my studs on in the morning

Needless to say, I've still got a few hours of work before this thing is back to being a comfortable daily driver. I haven't driven it since mid-October, so the heating will be the first thing. As you can see I already got a custom stereo

Check back later for the full write up... I gotta go put my interior back together

BUMP for new pics
Just made the 30min drive home from the shop where I did the swap. And I must say this thing kicks *** in this climate! Even with the bald Potenza's. I'll be unstoppable with studs. Taking it easy for a bit, though. Definately wanna let the clutch break in and make sure everything is mechanically sound.
Definately no 12-second car or anything, but a big improvement over the old single-cam. Might just have to do I/H/E after I swap the dampers and springs. Other than that, there's my daily driver. Hopefully I can show off my "project" in the spring...

Looking into it
I'm gonna wait until I have my new summer car up and running. But don't be suprised if I try and pull off an OBD-0 B16 w/ CRV tranny (found one for $250 a while back) in late summer '05. I can't afford (literally, I deliver pizzas) to have down time on my car.

2650lbs? If I remember right. That's less (once again, if I remember right) than my old 99 Si.
I strongly have no desire to make this anything more than a daily driver. I can't lie, I think it's ugly. I'd be driving a 4th gen Si or something (as a daily) if it wasn't for our shitty winters here. Which is why I wanted the 4wd, while staying to true to my Honda blood.

Took about 16 hours. With two-three people. It was a new experience for everyone involved, because none of us had dealt with Honda's 4wd cars, or ZC's.
Kinda of a pain in the *** because my car didnt get the maintenence it deserved with the previous owner. So under the hood had never been touched. A lot of the bolts were on really tight. Not too big of a deal because we had air tools.
We did run into some problems. A miss mounted motor mount (backwards, yes, backwards). And it actually took about 3 1/2 hours to figure out why we couldnt get it to start when we initially finished the install.
We rewired the dizzy. Swapped the dizzy (which involved rewiring again). Swapped ECU's. Then swapped injectors. The injectors ended up being the problem. So we put the stock ZC dizzy and ECU back on the car. Has been running like a champ ever since. Even delivered pizzas in it tonight!
I'm betting if I was to do it again, and didnt have to wait for the flywheel to be resurfaced, myself and my buddy in the pic could have it done in an 8-10 hour day. I highly recomend this as a winter car!

I say chap, Nice work.. yesss mmm.
now you can do donuts. haha. Holey ****, you could go off road with it. So what if it's ugly, it's one of a kind. If you do some engine work you can be in the 13's w/ no problems.
