What should I look out for? things to check? how many miles is too many? What sport bike models would you guys recommend? I'm looking to stay under 5K... thanks guys

This is something I read before looking for a used bike to buy.

One thing i always look at in used bikes, are tires. If the tires look like they have been used all the way to the edge, that means the person could ride and therefor probably rode the hell out of the bike. i.e. (lots of turns, the person could really lay the bike down in turns) if you see a used bike and the tires look hardly worn, chances are the person just putted around town.

 

Tires.
clutch handle and brake handle. . .check for bends.
check the color of the brake fluid. . .should look kinda yellow.
pull the seat and look at the battery. . .check for rust.
look at the kickstand for bends.
make sure the choke works.
. . .scratches of course.
