Default Anyone running a cherrybomb in place of the cat?

For the track, my friend suggested I get a Cherrybomb muffler, and get some flanges welded to each end and use it as a test pipe of sorts. What do you guys think of this idea? 2.5 inch cherrybomb with flanges and heatshield on it in place of a cat.

If you're going to be swapping out the cat at the track anyway, why not just use a regular testpipe? Though the Cherrybomb probably flows quite well, a plain piece of 2.5" tubing would flow better. Also, buying the tubing is cheaper than a buying a Cherrybomb.

glasspack muffler, Cherry Bomb is just a brand name that everyone knows.
Same way with a Kleenex, or just a facial tissue.

I thought it was a joke at first but realized it was legit.

I was just thinking about doing the same thing.

my freind has a eclipse with a resonator with bungs for his o2 on his car. it quieted things down a little

but, from reading posts it seems like you dont gain any power going with a test pipe vs cat

cherry bombs are basicaly resonators, matter of fact i know a guy that owns his own shop and he told me he uses them as resonators alot.

myself i used a 2.5" dynomax bullet muffler in place of my cat (looks just like a resonator) and its quiter than a test pipe but not as quiet as keeping the cat. i like it alot.

let me know if you need help w/ the exact model,

the part number is #24215,if you get it from summit racing its wlk-24215 -- description:
bullet, 4" round,2 1/2" inlet/outlet,16 1/2" long.......$31.95

check out google.com and type in "dynomax bullet muffler" and youll find some good pics just to get an idea of what it looks like, i had flanges and a bung welded on and it works like a charm.

doesnt sound shitty like a test pipe, but flows just as well.
