my dads being soooooooooo gay about it. this is how our convo. went yesterday...
me: dad, i would like to get a motorcycle, i understand its dangerous but i am willing to start slow and just get the basics down for a while
dad: no i dont wanna hear this shti again brandon
me: i was looking on the internet and i found a good bike to start on. you know that since last year ive wanted one. it's not too powerful, if the bike goes down, it wont be the end of the world because i can find one for about 2k and because im working 30 hours a week makin good enough money to pay EVERYTHING myself. o yea not to mention straight A's and B's...which kinda shows responsibility
dad: no
me: dad it's not like im gonna be like some of these kids around here that go out and buy an R1 and wreck it after 3 weeks, im willing to learn and get good. i will ALWAYS wear my gear and never do stupid **** on it like a lot of people would. i've been driving for a year and a half, how many accidents, 0 how many tickets, none.
dad: i dont care, no bike
me: can you please give me a good reason other than "NO"
dad: say you go down and get hurt, then its my fault, im not being a good parent.
i guess i can KINDA see where hes coming from, but its makin me so ****** mad. i guess i have to respect his decision tho. i want to buy a ninja 250 and i wanna see other bike in my area cycletrader doesn't have too many for sale.
EDIT: pleae ignore bad spelling and grammar

ninja 250 is a great bike to learn on--i did and those first days of riding were the best! what's that saying... never as good as the first time, or something like that.
I feel ya bro. i've been riding on and off for 14 years and i recently got married. my wife is so against me getting a motorcycle again even though i'm a safe rider, wear my gear, drive safely, etc., etc.. what she's worried about is the element i can't control--crazy drivers, other people out of control and the like. it's a valid point but i think people should live the way they want to. when your time is up, there's nothing you can do about it. being the risk averse female that she is, she just doesn't understand.
for all you riders out there, enjoy it for the rest of us poor suckas who can't (at least, can't right now).

Ninja 250 seems to be the "perfect" starter bike and I'm sure you'll have a blast. Best thing is you'll probably learn the basics much sooner with that bike than lets say a R6.
1st take a MSF course and get your license. That shows even more responsibility.
Slowly but surely, your dad will probably give in.

calm down man. take it slow. i understand you're hungry and want a bike bad, but you're 16, have no endorsements, and havent taken any courses.
at least get those under your belt and use them as leverage.

Then wait until you're 18. If you want a bike bad enough, you'll still want one in 2 years. My mom wouldn't let me get one while I was living under her roof and now I'm glad she wouldn't. Listen to your parents and wait until you move out. It'll all work out for the better in the end.

If your living under their roof, I guess you kinda have to follow their rules. They are just looking out for your saftey anyway. I bought my bike after I bought my house.

dammit guys whos side are you on?!?!!
haha jp...yea i guess i'll wait....it makes me so mad though when they just say no and dont even hear me out...if they could actually have like a intelligent discussion that would be one thing, but they assume brandon getting a bike = instant death, and they dont think im responsible and **** it makes me so mad. they pulled this same **** when i started driving (cars) and it's always some thing different. /rant
