Questions about Turbo charging gsr motor.....
i currently have a mitsu Eclipse gst... and i will be selling this car and will be getting a integra.. and i have couple of questions... first will i need a ignition management? and up to how many PSI can i boost it up to w/ a stock gsr motor?? i will be getting these parts... turbo T3/T4 hybrid kit(w/intercooler of course), fuel management, 3inch full exhaust, upgraded clutch, and maybe new axel... and is there any extra parts i should get??? cuz i really dont wanna see my engine blow up... oh yea and how long do you guyz think the engine will last...? i dont race that often... maybe 2~3 times a week.... short races... anyways thanks for reading and for help~~ have a good day~
not safe or good at all to turbo gsr. too much compression. get an ls if u wanna go turbo and boost 8psi. all engine for the gsr unless u wanna get in the engine and do piston work.

I disagree. A GSR motor can last if it's tuned properly. If you want to boost the stock motor, it might not be a bad idea to get a thicker head gasket. If this were me, I'd want to fully build the motor first and then boost. I have seen people with stock GSR motors and a DRAG 3 Turbo kit boost 7-8psi daily driven. Get a good fuel management system. Hondata is also popular and don't forget to have someone experienced do the tuning on a dyno.

Wow......
I was going to help out the original poster, but then I read this. It just shocked me so much I couldn't even type anymore. Maybe I'll come back later and finish.

GSR's are make awesome power on stock internals. My advice is throw a block gaurd in there. If it has high miles... throw in some new piston rings. Get a good piggy back or even a stand alone. DO NOT SKIMP ON TUNING. My buddy made 366@10lbs w/ peakboost turbo kit (3to4e) http://store.yahoo.com/cheaptu....html <------ his dyno chart
and he has actually dyno's since then and made 377@12lbs car is not a trailer queen. he drives daily and it beats on it quite often

For those whose main concern is reliability, forged internals and new sleeves are a must. Not exactly a stock bottom end, but at least you know it will hold up, assuming you aren't stupid with the other parts (tuning, boost levels, etc).
I've heard people seeing 350whp out of stock internals, but I personally would not push my motor that high without building it up. 300 would be as high as I would go.
For any sort of decent engine management, skip the piggy back and go with Hondata, or if you're up to it, AEM's EMS or Uberdata. A search will turn up a ton of info on those.
If you're going to buy an off-the-shelf kit, make sure it comes with larger injectors, upgraded fuel pump, eh... some other stuff. Its too early for me.
Oh and depending on which motor you get you should probably convert from OBD2 to OBD1, various people/company have fixes for that (conversion harness's, ecu's, and programs).

</TD></TR></TABLE>I would have partially agreed with you untill two nights ago. I am the official "I HATE DSM" person now. Sure there pretty cheap to make go fast (for the first 60ft) but that is it. The trannies are garbage. They way a ton. They have cable shifters (i cant think of any front wheel drive car you can bang gears in like a honda) cable shifter killed me. so yea you can try and talk me out of it or flame me or whatever but FU.
to starter of this thread i am sorry i had to vent
