Default Drysdale 990-V8 isnt it great

about 3 years ago before i was into bikes, i found this sexy bike, never built (only the engine was) but i think if it was it would give some tough competition to some of the top GP teams

The engine is a 990cc 4 stroke V8 that makes 220hp at 20,600 RPMs

Here is another picture of a GP Apilia motor with the most ingenious fuel injection system I've ever seen

pretty wild...

Wish there were some other Bikes that could possible make things more interesting, I think of Moto GP as Formula 1 in that aspect.

Also having a V8 would give it a heavier weight requirement .

If it were a better engine configuration, the big teams would be doing it. IIRC the top ends of that 8 are just twin Yamaha FZR400, which are mated to a custom machined crankcase. Ok, it was the 750 that used them... http://www.google.com/search?h...earch

You have a point there, but having smaller cylinders, has so much more potental then the 4s do. smaller combustion area means less didtance the ignition has to travel thus being able to reach higher RPMs. look at F1 i dont know if the rules have changed or not, but if its still the same the are 3L V8 or V10 getting up to almost 20K. the only reason that i can see GP teams are not using it is because of the weight.

This topic has been covered before... the larger cylinder engines are already capable of making more power than is usable on the current motoGP circuits. Going to smaller cylinders would be a solution for a problem that doesn't exist. The larger teams have publicly stated that they can easily make more than 230 horsepower. With the current tires, bikes, and courses theres just no point. Its not only the weight.
