Default Yay! Got my 01 GSR! Have a few questions.

Hey guys! Well, sure enough, my parents surprised me with a Silver 01 GSR! I woke up and they told me to do the usual cleanup outside, sweep the garage, etc. i go in the garage, turn on the lights and see the ****** GSR right there! my mouth dropped and i was all giddy.. lol.. it was great!

Anyway, i had a 93 LS before, and this gsr is just a big step up.. so much more power, better handling, nice leather interior.. etc..

But yeah, ill post my pics up when i get the chance to take some..

I came here to ask you guys a few things!

-would civic ex steelies fit my car? if not, where can i get some crap wheels for the winter? and what would fit?

-what are some things i can do or some things i should change like timingbelt, etc.?

-i have some chips/nicks on the front bumper/hood from pebbles on the highway i suppose, but how can i avoid gettin rust or avoid them being noticeable without shoving your face a foot away?

-how can i maintain the leather interior from cracking and such?

Sorry about all the questions, but i gotta take care of her!

Thanks Alot Guys! reply with any answers, or suggestions.

Oh yeah, heres the AutoTrader Ad, http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/...st=21 Thats my girl!

how many miles on it? no need to change the belt on an 01 unless it was driven crazy.

most people get chips and stuff from rocks when driving. just wax it real good and see if some of the little scratches will rub out. if they dont, really the only way to get rid of them is touch up paint and stuff.

Nice man you got the "SUPER GSR." I used Lexol on my leather and that seemed to work pretty well but I've just gotten to lazy to do it anymore. For any knicks and junk just grab some touch up paint and fill it in.

1) I'm not sure about the wheels.

2) At 43k miles, you don't need to touch the timing belt, it's only scheduled to be changed every 90k, so it's got plenty of life left. You can change your brake fluid, air filter, and oil. Other than that I think everything on it should be good to 60k miles including the spark plugs. My best advice would be not to go crazy messing with it, learn the car, learn what goes wrong, keep a careful eye on things, but don't replace stuff just cause. Things like the spark plugs and timing belt last a while and simply do not need to be messed with every 40k miles unless you are doing CRAZY stuff with it. (Which I hope you aren't doing...)

3) You can pick up some touch up paint, your dealer should be able to get some for you. Only buy this from the dealer, that way the color will actually be pretty close.

4) I've heard the best stuff for leather is Lexol - http://www.lexol.com/ Personally though I just cheaper the stuff and I haven't had any real issues with my leather. But then again, my step father is in the leather repair business and could fix any cracks or anything... so I don't really worry about it too much.

Wow..your parents !

When I have kids, i think i'll do the same.

anyways 14inch EX civic wheels will fit.

Timing belt doesnt need to be changed yet (90k service), but check the tires and brakes because they usually last up to 50k. With the the basic oil change, I think she's ready for the road. Good luck and have fun

You spoiled bastard! lol j/k

You have no idea all the work I went thru to get my GSR to hear you had one show up in your garage hehe. But it's worth every sacrifice!!!

That's awesome of your parents though, but for how many yrs will you have to sweep that garage or cut the grass to pay them back? lol

I'd do some research; there are a lot of articles out there on how to maintain your teg. Unfortunately I'm not @ home right now, otherwise I'd post some links but feel free (any1) to email me if you don't get all your questions answered here...

Change the

-Oil
-MTF
-Brake fluid
-Clutch flud
-P/S fluid
-Coolant
-Distributor cap/rotor
-PCV valve
-Fuel filter
-Valve adjustment every 15-20k

The plugs, timing belt are fine for now. At 90k they should be changed. Read up on here before you even think of asking what intake, exhaust to get. I advise you keep it stock and learn the car first. Learn everything you can and then decide how you want to modify it.

As for the bumper, it sucks. We all get it Get some touch up paint from the dealer. Keep the car clean and waxed. Use a bra for long highway trips. INVEST IN SECURITY FIRST. Layer it.

Thank you so much for all the replies every1!

I Am contemplating whether or not i should leave it stock in the long run.. for now modifying isnt even considered.. i am getting to know it slowly but surely. its really fun! i jus wish it was a little lower

Other than that, ill look into purchasing some lexol, and a front mask. Its a relief to hear that im not the only one with those damn chips!

But other than that, i was actually researching about some security systems last night, i dont know which one to go with.. i dont even have any options right now.. costwise, i dont think it matters that much, because it will actually keep the car safe so it would be worth it. But any ideas/opinions on a good security system would help me out alot!

Thanks Again to all ppl who replied!

btw, i kind of feel guilty seeing how so many people had to work so hard to get their car, and me, well.. i just got it.. lol.. Sorry

Just make sure you appreciate the car as much as if you had to sell your left ******** to get it... that's all that matters

He may have paid a little too much, but your not going to find many Gsr's with 70k for $6500 either
