Inspect my B18c1 please......
this motor came out of that wrecked DA i bought a while ago. When i bought it the owner said he snapped the timiing belt, and doesnt know if any damage was done to the motor. After finally getting off my lazy *** i decied to pull the head and check it out. Finally after breaking 2 rachets and 6 beers later this is what i have :

what do you guys think????

From the look of it it looks like there was no valve to piston contact. I worked on a buddy's 4G63 (Talon TSI) motor that had the timing belt snap and there were marks on the pistons and the valves were all kinds of messed up. I don't know what you're plans are with the motor, but you might want to pull the valves to check to see if they are straight while you're at it. At least that's what I'd do.

you give me 12 benjamins and its your ryan
but my plans for the motor are gonna be boost. i was just thinking about replacing the pistions and rods and using type R valve train.

HAHAHA
HAHAHA
block looks good. dont see any valve marks on the pistons.
so the worst that could happen is there some valves are bent
and the only way to tell is to take the valves out or take the head to a machine shop

Fill the ports with carb or brake parts cleaner. You can see the seepage through the valve seats if it's got a poor leak-down.
You can also use a port leak-down tester. It's a vacuum pump with a metal plate-backed rubber seal that you place over the port to test how well it can hold a vacuum without leaking air into a closed system.
I don't remember the part number at Goodson until I get a new catalog at PRI, but you can try to find it yourself @ http://www.goodson.com
If you don't want to spend the $130 or so on that tool, then most machine shops will have the gauge.
If you have to have the seats recut, just make sure to use a performance race machine shop that won't simply cut the seats by hand. I would even pay the extra money & shipping to have Portflow do it if you're on that side of the country.

I say it dosen't matter! get yourself some new valves, better valve springs, new cams, and new higher compression pistons and rods... you better bore it out and sleeve it too just to be sure the walls aren't damaged. and then give it to me!!!
Ok now that I am done dreaming... it dose not look like the valves came in contact with the pistons at all... If you want to put it all back together and do a compression test... or tear it down some more and check the valves.

ehh maybe not..still close enough tho.

If your plans are to replace the rods and pistons and the valve train, there shouldn't be any problems, just have the block and head checked for warpage.
