Default Opinions on factory alarm.

I've been looking into purchacing an alarm system for my car (97 accord) and came accross a factory security system. Its OEM and brand new. Would this be a better option over an aftermarket alarm? I found some instructions on the installation and it seems easy (being oem) Any opinions?

*Edited because I found answers to some of my previous questions.

Be patient and people will reply.

It seems as though it would. It also has instructions. I'd contact the seller and find out for yourself. That or Honda since he listed the part number on there.

my opinion is this:

you already have one, so dont waste money on another alarm. basically, if someone wants your car theyre going to get it. period.

well some (i'm not sure if most) OEM alarms will only go off when a door gets opened (like trunk and hood as well). they usually wont have proximity sensors. so if you don't have currently have an alarm, i would suggest getting an aftermarket unit to get those added protection.

Good point about the proximity sensors though, I will keep that in mind.
Thanks

Does anyone have the factory wiring harness for 94-97 accord alarm (I know alot of you upgrade the alarms) the one I might buy does not include this and I cant seem to find it online (if you do please email me) I havent tried honda yet but that might be a last resort... just thought I'd ask.

the alarm in my car is a real piece... its not factory, i called the honda dealer where i live and they said 94 hondas didnt come with the alarm, but i think it is a honda part. one day i tried to open my door and it went off, the battery was dead, and i was stranded at mcdonald's for 4 hours.
if i were you, i'd go with an aftermarket system.

OEM alarms are under warranty. Yours was probably not installed correctly. I'd stay with OEM.

Unless you fear your accord to get stolen, just stick with stock...I don't think your car is a theif magnet though

I've never heard of an alarm horror story like that... besides my friends viper alarm that has autolocked his keys in the car a few times hah.

I just like OEM parts... they're just so damn expensive.
