Default Under tail VS side exhaust

we all know that 1 muf is better then 2 for race use due to it being much lighter. but what about the under tail VS side exit. remember there are 3 considerations to make here. #1 is HP numbers, #2 is aerodynamics efficiency and the 3rd is how efficient the aerodynamics of the bike+rider are with the exhaust flow.

under tail obviously have has 2 and 3 wail the other has 1 due to less bends in the pipe. but after everything is factored in, does one of the 2 come out on top????

The reason some bikes have two exhausts versus one (ie, twins vs i4) is the exhaust pulses from a big twin can shred a single exhaust to pieces. I have seen an R6 with dual exhausts, and IMO it looks like poop. Not the poop. Just poop. I believe Moriwaki makes a dual exhaust system for the 600RR so it resembles the RC211V, and at least that makes sense - attempting to emulate a race bike. But an extra exhaust on an i4 is useless (unless it already has two, such as the Ugly Bus).

With regards to aerodynamic efficiency, the exhaust plays a small role. The shape of the frontal area and the tail are more important to drag than the exhaust.

that's what i was referring to. i know the exhaust pulse doesn't play a big part in the efficiency but it does play some... every little bit counts

You wouldn't be able to tell the difference in performance with just your butt dyno so...

get one you think looks best.

IMO, aftermarket undertail exhaust kits are wack.

I feel no need for a undertail exhaust. No need to copy Honda

The more bends in an exhaust = less overall HP

I like undertails IF and ONLY IF it was factory done.

EG: 1kRR, 600RR, R1, 748-999 Duc, etc.....

Aftermarket ones just look like *** to me.....

But, that's my .02 anyways

You cant feel the heat from the exhaust on a 600rr, at least so says my girlfriend.
Drag is neglible for the everyday rider, even for the amatuer racer. Most people dont really have a need for a high mount exhaust besides looks and performance is actually slightly less than a regular mount.

if i am sitting at a light for 1 or 2 minutes; i can touch the pass. seat on my 600rr and notice it heating up; maybe its because i don't have a stock exhaust? iunno.

I got my Hindle highmount/exit for a few reasons.

1- Hindle is fairly cheap compared to others
2- Hindle has been shown to compete HP wise with Arata and Akro. 2 of the best exhausts on the market.
3- It looks cool as HELL!!
4- It sounds even better!!!

Hey SON, do you go to bike nights on Thursdays up here in the Valley?

high mounts actaully are completely up, whereas high exits usually start where the stock canister would and point up, hence high exit. But yeah. I have a hindle Ti High mount. Honestly, it doesnt get hot (ti), looks amazing, peg retension and yeah wonderful.

What would you need a high mount for? Like you're gonna touch the can down on your turns. I'll be lucky to touch my pegs down, let alone my can.
