Default I need your guy's advice on my ITR

Okay so winter is here or soon to be here, I live in MI, so obviously theres gonna be issues with snow... problem is my insurance is up and I cant drive my car anymore... not even if I wanted to, the insurance I have just wont cover my car anymore, and any other place I want to go to, to look for insurance quotes charges an arm and a leg for 6 months... I obviously dont want to shell out too much money for my baby... so in the garage she has sat for the past week or so, just lookin at me, yellin at me to drive her, but sadly I cant... so my question to you guys is... should I keep her in the garage until the spring/summer and see if my insurance will go down (I will lose some points off my record ) or should I just sell her and do a civic with a swap, or a 240sx with a sr20det swap... I love my R and I dont wanna see her go, true it is for sale right now... but I was never COMPLETELY serious about selling her, just kind of pondering the idea in the back of my mind.... I had a downpayment on an STi.... but insurance would have kicked me in the nuts again with that car.... so lemme know you guys, keep the R and hope for the best or sell her and get a car that will never mean as much to me

I was in same boat back in 99 I had to stick it out and pay high insurance. IMO is that if you have a garage to keep her safe then just let it sit safely without insurance and pick up a beater for the winter with just liability insurance. Keep a safe record with the beater until you can affort her. It's good to have 1/1 scale diecast in your garage then nothing at all!

sell the car ... especially if you cant enjoy it ... there are many others out there that would use the car for what its meant to be used for.

if money is not an issue with payments on the car, i say store in until spring time. however, there is a risk in storing it in your garage without insurance just in case someone steals it. anyway, the choice is up to you. 240 sx with a sr20 and sti are two different boats.

well heres the thing, I'm gonna see if I cant get storage insurance on the car, and let it sit over the winter.... perhaps put some of the money that would be going to insurance on some hardcore power mods... then come spring/summer I can enjoy the car that much more.... as far as the 240sx and sti being in 2 different boats I totally agree with you, I'm just keeping my options broad and seeing what else is out there, I have primarily owned hondas... 2 civics a gsr and now the type-r, so I dunno I am always going to be partial to honda

SILENCE! YOU!

Let's look at the obvious here shall we? First off, you already have the (shall I say) legendary Type R in your possession already. Why would you cut yourself off at the knees and sell it? There are many owners across the globe that seldom drive their beloved Type R's. Waiting five months to drive it again isn't going to kill you. So buck up and do what you have to do for the mean time and let those nasty tickets fall off of your record. It may suck now, that you cannot drive it, but lets look on the positive side. 1) You have a Type R. 2) You'll be able to enjoy it once again in a few months. 3) You have a Type R. 4) You have a Type R. Utilize this time as a learning experience to not drive like an asshat so you can then, afford the insurance to drive your beloved car whenever you want.

Do us all a favor here on Honda Tech, and do not sell it.

Let's see, will Chris ever grow ***** a come to a HPDE event, umm no. Drive to Chicago...um how about hell no......does he really need the R...um......you know the answer to that one so buy a hatch and do your swap, can't buy Sam's hatch since I already bought it......and don't count on the insurance to go down anytime soon since your still under 21....big insurance rate drops don't really happen till around 25 so you might look to doing a hatch + swap to avoid high insurance........

CAR COVER um......how about Autozone where you bought your ricey mufflers and decals for your Probe and your civics....Lucas is right here....just don't rice the R....for the sake of your fellow R owners.....Keeping Type R

They're floating around every now and then here on Honda Tech. I got mine by searching. Found some guy in the East selling one. FYI and if you didn't know already; the Type R covers are different than the other Integra covers being that the part of the cover that fits over the spoiler is slightly bigger to make up for the bigger rear spoiler rather than the dinky POS found on the GS-R.

Good Luck Brutha!

Well tell Gareth to pay me my $100 and you'll get your $50 bizzzatch......As for the million times Andrew and myself asked you go to an HPDE and you didn't I have little faith that you would ever go to one...since like you said back when we asked you said that you wern't interested in driving at GingerMan or autocrosses......Instead you rather go drag race and break an axle.... I'm only stating facts and pokin a little fun...we all poke fun at each other, like you pokin fun at Lucas...so don't get all uber pissed becuase you know I'm right....make sure to get comprehensive on that R and save money for parts....

I never saw that probe but I've heard enough from everybody else to give me nightmares for years.........make sure to buy a size bigger than the car covers say to on the box so it will make up for the wing.......

the HPDE.. yea thats fine, I know you guys urged me to go and I never went.... as far as pokin fun though, callin me a ricer... seems as though I have graduated from those days bro... I havent talked to you in months figured at least you could be a little mroe decent then to just outright flame me... thats not cool man, broken axle is why I havent gone back to the track since that day... this upcoming season I will be at HPDE events... as far as lucas, yeah he is a very smart kid car wise... I give him mad props for what he can do, I'm not gettin uber pissed, I just think the way in which you decided to go about this was wrong... I have never flamed n e of you guys on anyforums... I guess that just goes to show where the respect level is right now

Chris I never called you a ricer......I was implying that some of the things you did to your cars in the "PAST" were ricey....I have had my ricey moment so......As for coming out to HPDE events, I hope you do becuase I'm sure the other R owners would tell the same that you are missing out on some fun times.....This ITR Expo better have ITR - 420 or I will be inclined to kick you in da bawlz.... Just lay off the pedal this winter and I hope you can drive da R again.....For insurance try Bristol West...Call the Reed Agency.....I got a great deal.....maybe they can help you out.....Maybe we can meet later and get some grub......peace................................... .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ........................Ricer

I dunno...lol, PM him.

As far as Tony and Chris...you should probably take this to PM if you wish to continue...I'm a friend to both of you guys, so I'm not gonna defend just one of you.

Antonio: I used to want carbon fiber tezzas on my GS-R back when I got it (I was 17, we all went through ricer stages)

Chris: You have changed a lot since the Probe/Civic days...

now, can't we all just get along?
