Nasty tranny sound? ewww
This has been happening for quite sometime, and I'm sure it's not such a good sign. Pulling off the line in 1st, sometimes the tranny makes a short winding sound (exactly like the reverse winding sound), then it cuts out. Along with the periodic winding, the (I'm thinking it may be the throw-out bearing, or something else clutch-related) tranny makes a...****, hard to explain, but it only happens when the clutch petal is released. When I smash it into the floor, regardless of what gear I'm in, the sound cuts out. Really mind-boggling ****, and I'm not taking it anywhere 'cause I don't have any cash! Anyway, if any of you have an idea of what it may be, let me know. I could post some sound clips if that'll help, just let me know. Thanks so much.

if u get on the gas in any gear and then let off like above 2.5k rpm does it do it? if so then your trannys starting to go, that happened to me and its doing it again. i thought it was the throw out bearing too and so did my dad and auto mechanic teacher.
Aww ****. Damn it. Eh, that's cool, yeah you were exactly right about the whole thing, I really appreciate the help. I'll double check the whole letting off the gas again. Either way, I knew it was a tranny problem, so I got a few Benjamins handy

Not exactly. Find a junkyard tranny, and if you can put it in yourself, it would be cheap.

I got another side of that story this weekend. My friend is rebuilding a b18a1 tranny and I was like why don't you buy. His response was that if you buy used for cheap with like 160,0000 miles you don't know who's beat on it and how much longer its gona last. Could give out in a month for all you know. Paying the little extra to rebuild ensures that it will last the life of the car, if not longer.
Then again, if rebuilding a tranny was easy, everyone would do it. I'd need serious help at least.

Alright, drove the car today, really payed attention to the sound and when it would happen....kinda like my last post, but this was like I-drive-out-of-my-way-to-a-parking-lot-and-test-it kinda thing.

That's exactly what I was looking for. Here's what I found:
-1st gear....hard or soft acceleration, the sound doesnt happen.
-Even before 2.5K, letting off the gas it makes that sound.
Seems like my posts are kinda redundant, but I'm just trying to give you all as much info as possible. Thanks again for the help...damn salvage title....****, my car is about to have another one!
