Default *URGENT*

Ok Friday night I was taking my girl out to eat when I noticed that my gas light just came on. Well it was probably about 20 degrees out or maybe even colder. Well I was going to get onto a highway and BAM my car shuts off. Im like great I ran out of gas. So we waited on the side of the road for prolly 5 min. til my friends get there.

We go get gas and we come back, of course a sheriff is waiting there for my arrival and tells me that I have to do this **** quick because my car is in a bad spot could get hit BLAH BLAH!!! well I put in aabout 3 gallons of gas and mind you it is about 20 outside FREEZING my butt off. I go in the gas guage reads 1/4 tank Im like good time to leave. Well I go to start the car it turns over but wont start!!!! It did this for a good 10 min. Well then I decided to get it towed home and just left it there. Went back Sat. afternoon tried to start it same damn thing!!!! Do u think my brand new lines froze???!!! or does it have something to do with the fuel pump and it was cold and put too much stress on it in the freezing weather.

Well I am going to put some dry gas in it and try to put another whole 5 gallons in it. Do you think thats what my problem is...Im stressed out and NEVER GOING TO LEAVE IT UNDER 1/4 TANK EVER AGAIN!!!!!!

this may sound stupid but the first thing you need to do is get it off the hill. roll it, push it whatever, that could be the only thing wrong, if you ran out of gas on a steep incline the gas in the tank may not even be getting to the fuel pump. this may not be the solution but its free to try.

More gas wont help...

You need to do what murf said and get it rolling and attempt to start it.

why don't you check your fuel pressure to see if you are even getting fuel to your motor. Also check and see if the fuel pump is priming.

man the same exact thing happened to my 91... i was in a parking lot and had about half a tank and it wouldnt start...and also all the same symptoms of u...hears what u do...have someone turn the key ON but not start, go to the driver side rear where the tire is and bend down and listen to see if the fuel pump is circulating(it will sound almost like a buzzing noise), if it is then idk what to tell ya but if u cant hear it then its 100% ur fuel pump...i changed out my fuel pump and she ran like a champ

$10 says you blew the fuel pump fuse 'cuz you said you just replaced the pump (paid someone to do it it sounds like ), I'm gonna laugh my *** off if I'm right!

the fact that your car died and you were low on gas may be a total coincidence. most honda gas gauges will read below the "E" before you actually run out of gas.

but if you happened to run out of gas, it could also be the fuel pump. as gas flows through the pump it also cools it down. running out of gas can cause the pump to get too hot, and poof... quit working. another possiblity if you actually ran out of gas is that some of the sludge that builds up on the bottom of the tank could have been sucked into the lines, causing a blockage somewhere.

He said it is not engaging though so I would guess that the pump is kaput.

what octane gas were you running? if you think your lines are frozen stick your car in a heated garage over night and try in themorning.

i used to use 91 all the time but i put 87 in my car and it runs wayy better with 87 and gets better gas mileage as well. Im thinking th fuel pump went because I changed everything else except the fuel pump maybe the most 2 weeks ago. I am thinking of getting a Walbro 190 because it is 75$ compared to 150 for a stock one. I think the walbro would prolly last a little longer and get better gas flow to my engine. Should I go with Lightning Motorsports or SpeedLab. I was thinking Lightning but some input would be great. But dropping the tank to put the fuel pump in WASTED $10 in gas cuz now I have a half tank of fuel in it now and what I gotta waste it by pulling the tank down Im gonna have my buddy put it in for me LOL im too lazy to do this project

since when did you have to drop the fuel tank to install an intank pump?

I was under the impression there was this metal cover for the fuel pump right behind the passanger seats (on 5th gens) and you just pulled that off to get to the fuel pump.

I think that is the sender too, if so, dropping the tank sucks!!! Get someone to help you out!

Before doing that you may want to check your main relay out!! Give it a few taps, or borrow someone elses to see if that works. They go all the time due to crappy solder that disintegrates after a while!

Yea just looked at the helms, and you do have to drop the tank. That sucks, I've seen the cover before and figured it'd be easy. Too bad its not the fuse , that'd be an easy fix. I thought I'd try to offer a glimmer of hope!
