Default is it worth installing a axle back muffler on dc5?

i have a tanabe racing medallion axle back made for the type s with no midpipe. would there be any performance gains putting it on with the stock midpipe or is it just looks? If i go to a local muufler shop and have them make me a custom midpipe with no resonator would that make any power or just be loud as hell?

It should have a significant gain in performance if you do away with the resonator, but yes, it will be loud as hell. haha. However, it will help greatly later on if you ever add a turbocharger or a supercharger, you want to beable to expel all of those hot, used-up exhaust fumes and let your engine breathe fresher air faster, by releasing these hot gasses. The downside though is that it won't past emisions laws, depending on the laws in your state you might even get a ticket and they'll give you a BS hassle and require you to put back on your factory exhaust. Oh and another thing, you will more than likey lose some back pressure...ie...you may have suckier bottom end but you will gain in top end. It's totally up to you to decide though man, hope that helped you to decide some.

agreed, u will see no gains in power, as long as the piping is still there, it makes no difference... its like stick a nozzle to a fire hose on a garden hose, it wont flow any faster

not true. you will see some gains but not alot. I had a Type R axle back which had some gains. then I went to a full ITR catback which was alot better.

You get a little out of it but you won't really notice it. I'll sound much better and look cooler too. A shop will crush bend the midpipe, not the best flow.
