Default Just Installed MSD SCI Kit but WTF......

Ok I just bought and installed a new MSD SCI kit and i bought it through my friends performance shop and he said it would increase your gas mileage since it is a more efficient spark among all the other benefits of the kit, but Im getting terrible mileage now, I went from 38mpg to like 30mpg is this supposed to happen?

Did you change spark plugs when you added the MSD?

yeah thats what Im saying, I dont understand why youd actually loose gas mileage, im kinda pissed off cause it was an expensive kit and now im paying more for gas lol, I mean it did make a huge difference in throttle response and WOT performance but still....

When I put it in my GSR, it made no difference. Waste of money for me.

I noticed a performance difference, but does anyone know why its loosing gas mileage or what I could check to see if something is wrong?

I was looking into the MSD kits, in your opinion (ignoring the fuel mileage), is it worth it when it comes to performance gains?

it made a huge difference in throttle response and I noticed that at WOT and VTEC it seems to be a lot smoother and quicker, but $400 good, honestly theres probably better things I could have done for they money/performance, up to you I guess, I was hoping for better mileage so it would pay itself back

I thought those Kits were only supposed to supply better throttle response at higher rpm? Like when vtec engages or at wot.

Didnt know they were good for better gas mileage?

I believe on the packaging it says it's supposed to give better fuel economy.

more spark = more detination = more gas burned up.

But its still sucking in the same amount of gas / air to begin with. So having more spark is only going to help you burn it off.

You arnt changing whats being put in, you are changing how its being taken care of.
