sgT: CTR pistons fitting rod small end
sgT or anyone: I take it that you can use ITR rods with CTR pistons.
This would mean that the thinner B18C rod small end fits in the CTR piston.
The reason I ask is because there has been a lot of confusion about what the CTR rod length and thickness (at both ends) are.
As you all know, the B18A/B, B20B, B17A, and B16A rods and cranks are interchangeable. The rod bearing width is 19.5mm.
The B18C's have thinner rods at both ends by 2mm. The rod bearing width is 17.5mm. You cannot interchange B18C rods and cranks with any of the above other rods and cranks.
So does the CTR use an ITR rod and special 77.4mm stroke crank to fit the thinner rod? Or does the CTR use B16A crank and B16A rod width and length?
any clarification would help.
thanks

Well, all the info you want is irrelevant really.
Since the B18C rod is narrow, if the CTR rod is wide then the b18c rod will
fit. If the ctr rod is narrow like a b18c it will still fit.
And yes, it DOES fit.

Hey "Micheal"
Can I conclude by your question that you decided to install your CTR pistons this winter instead of waiting for the emission testing ?
Or are you just preparing yourself for next spring.
Happy new year to you.

sgT: let's try it another way - did your ITR rods have extra width left over or was it snug at the small end of the rod?
Does anyone know the CTR rod length and rod bearing width? i.e. is it identical to the B16A? The 1.77 rod ratio with 77.4 mm stroke is due to deck height differences with the B16B block ...or so I'm told. No-one seems to have the CTR rod specs handy.
JPP: Nah .just doing some research for a friend. I am waiting for the spring to pop in those Endyn Wisecos for 12.0:1 CR. Then I'll hope that Larry was right about the emissions. The CTR pistons will give me a little too much CR than I want and I heard they consume more oil . Let me know when you are comin down to visit Yoshio. How's the exhaust?

There's room, though i dont remember how much.
CTR rod length is B16A rod length + 7mm(or whatever the deck height difference
is). As far as bearing width, cant help you there. But really, does it matter?
CTR pistons installed properly consume no more oil than any other piston.
THey are nice and quiet due to the tight tolerances. CR is conservative 12:1.
FYI, I WILL be coming to TO sometime this spring/summer and probably staying
for a few days to a week. Enough time to run amok on the streets of TO/Scarborough.
