B16 head lower compression on b18c block? How much to mill head? HELP!!!
I got a JDM Gsr block 10.6 cr and im planning to put a b16 head on it, i heard the b16 head will lower the compression is that true? If so should i mill the head and how much can i mill safely i wanna bump it up to 11 with out replacing the pistons or buying an expensive head gasket HELP!!!!
No it won't lower the CR (unmilled). spend time searching! ;o

EG617, Dude you totally proved yourself wrong. Ofcourse a B16A head will decrease the C/R of a GSR block. The JDM B18C1 block's C/R (10.6) is calculated with the 41.6 CC GSR head. If you use a B16A head (42.7 CC), the combustion chamber's volume will increase resulting in a lower compression ratio. The link you gave shows a decrease to 10.38
Evilempire, you can do whatever you want but milling is the cheap way out and most likely will not be in your best interest especially if you want to go from 10.38 to 11.0 (using a B16A head). If you do, make sure you check to see if the piston hits the valves!

Ok, this is an easy one...yes, the compression will down slightly. Your best bet is the just buy a 1 layer headgasket. That will raise it up slightly.
Remember, if you decide to mill the head, its "permanent!"

where can i get a good 1 layer head gasket?
Midengineracer, are you sure u did ur calculations rite i got 10.6 still i think you enter in the usdm piston in stead of the jdm p72-00
