how many of you guys run ctr pistons in your ls/vtec? is it your daily driver? this is my set up so far maybe you guys can give me some advice.

b18a
ctr pistons (still havent got them just incase)
b16a head with ctr cams and type r dual valve springs
310cc rc injectors
p30 ecu and afc
and a prelude fuel pump.

this will be used with a b16 tranny and act clutch in a 95 ex coupe.

hector, do your self a favor, and get JDM ITR's instead of CTRs.

read the thread at the top of the all motor forum talking abotu CTR pistons.

they will put your c/r around the mid 13's area. you only need about 11.5

ive read that post about 10 times. the problem i have is that most of the guys saying dont do it live in cali where they get **** water fuel. here i have 4 stations less then 5 minutes that sell 94 octane and 2 that sell 100(i dont really want that to be an option since they are about 30 minutes away). i know people have used the ctr's in their ls/vtec so please speak up. if not i would like some more input on what you guys are using. id like to run the highest compression i can on 93-94 octane with my parts list. the only thing that i will change next summer is a better set of cams and add some cam gears. again thanks for the info/advice in advance.

we do plenty of our Exospeed Stage 2 LS blocks with CTR pistons.

Its real popular and an easy HP for an LS/VTEC setup. You can make a good 190-210HP with the right combination of parts and tuning.

It is on the high side as far as compression, its not for everyone and you do have to know what you are getting into with a setup like this.

If you want something more reliable for longevity, ITR piston is a good choice as well and great for daily driving and some racing too. With the right combo of cams and headwork, you can make 200hp also.

thanks for the info exospeed. damn asking for info here is like pulling teeth, i know more people have tried it then have responded. i can get the pr3 pistons(almost the same comp. ar jdmitr's right) and rings really cheap from my local honda dealer so my options are either oversized ctr's or pr3's. im just basically looking to see how many guys have run these on 93-94 octane not in cali cause i know you guys get 91 on pump. if its ok on higher octane then id rather shot for the higher compression. ill give it a week then i will go and buy what i decide on saturday. again like always thanks for any info/advice in advance.

yes, lots of people use CTR pistons in LS blocks

as long as it is tuned people have no problems

I've sold over 50 sets of CTR pistons in teh past couple months, people are always happy with them

i am, and im nearby....and i run 93/94

CTR complaints....they are cause california has shitty fuel restraints. i'll continue to use 93/94 octane with my very close to 13:1 compression

by the way....94 octane makes tuning MUCH easier.

well i went with the p30 pistons the ctr's just offered to much compression and i need to daily drive the car. i figure the p30's will be between 11.5-11.8 all the compression calculators say something different. thanks for all the guys that had info/advice.
