Help Swap Problem Cable Clutch
The car '89 CRX HF
The engine '95 GSR
The trans '93 GSR cable
I bought a wrecked 95 GSR and pulled the engine. I already had a 93 GSR cable trans. The engine had 48k miles on it so being out of work I reused the clutch and pressure plate. The cable trans I bought had no throw out bearing on it and the hydro one wouldn't work. I bought a new throw out bearing for a 93 cable trans. I never installed a throw out bearing that looked like that but basically I slid the bearing down over the input shaft of the trans and put the arms of the spring into the little tabs of the bearing. That seemed like how it should go on. When I move the clutch arm the bearing pushes out and the spring pulls it back. I put the trans on and installed the engine.
I pushed the clutch in to start it and it felt fine. The car didn't start on the first try so I ended up pushing it in a few times. On one of the last tries to start the car, when I pushed in the clutch it made a noise which sounded like the pressure plate breaking. Now the pedal feels limp. I thought the cable might have broken but when I pull on the clutch arm down on the trans it feels limp too.
Any ideals?
I'm 99% sure when you buy a clutch for an integra that the 92-01 are the same and the 89-91 are different because the input shaft size is bigger on the 92+.
It figures the engine is in, full of fluids, all the hoses cut to fit, etc.
Now it has to come back out.

Well, since none of the so called "experts" on this site helped I screwed with it and figured this much out on my own.
I think the big snap sound was the clutch return spring snapping off of the throw out bearing.
I adjusted the limp cable till it was tight again.
I drove the car about 20 miles and it didn't seem to slip. I still need to get it adjusted properly but I think it might be ok. The trans shifted fine except that I only reved it to 3300rpm due to a check engine light. Maybe a full on WFO run my show that the clutch is having problems and this would be hard on the syncros.
I also went to the junk yard and found another B cable trans there and its throw out bearing was broken. The ears of the bearing snapped right off. That could have also been the sound I heard.
If I have problems and I end up having to pull the trans back out, I will come back to this thread and let you know.
I hope that if anyone else is having this same problem and has done a search and found this thread that it helps you.

It was the original CRX cable. It fit fine. The cable turned out to have nothing to do with the problem.
The problem seems to be with the throw out bearing and/or its spring.
