Default Finally dynoed my build!! (w/ new Profab header)

FIrst off, I would like to thank Mike over at Autowave in Huntington beach for tuning my car, and Shane for being so cool with all the little bugs that had to be taken care of!

Ill post pics later. Heres the setup

b18a block, bored .5mm over
GSR crank/ GSR rods, PR3 pistons
PR3 head
Crower stg. 2 cams
AEBS IM
Stock TB bored by JG with a 65mm inlet and 62mm outlet
ProFab header
Kragen intake .....
Exhaust consists of a 2.5' carsound cat, custom piping, and an IMCO muffler. (looks like edelbrock)
Tuned with VAFC II

Ok, the baserun netted 178 whp. After Mike set the ignition timing it went up to 186. It kinda stayed there for a couple runs. Then once fuel adjustments were made at the top end it jumped up 12 horsepower and got me my best run of 198 WHP!!!!!!!! Torque peaks at around 131-133, and is pretty linear, but youlle have to look at the pics later. Peak power is at about 8200.
This is a Dyno Dynamics Dynanometer, so I was told it reads like 3-5 % lower then a dynojet. (Mike told me that stock GSR's hit 135 on this dyno) So on a dynojet this would put me close to 205, and maybe 215-220 on a dynopak!!! hehe, I plan on geting a better intake and redynoing it after the break in.
OVerall I am very pleased!!! I assembled this motor personally, and have been building it for 4 months. Thanx again to the crew at Autowave!!! And thanx to Tom at camp 1320 foor geting me some good deals on the parts I needed! That ProFab header seems to perform quite well and I must say the ground clearance is crazy good.....I gotta go to work...pics will be up tomorow.

damn good numbers. get a better intake and a bigger throttle body and two-hundo would definitley be happening. and cam gear adjustment? i have crower twos in my build and was wondering what you ended up at?

Nothing like having a motor you put together yourself perform well.

Yeah the top end is DAHM good. Mike the tuner thought I had stage 3 cams cause at like 6800 it spikes upwards at the biggest slope of the whole curve!! And maintains that upwards spike all the way till peak at 8200. Thats probably where the TB just cant flow enough air. Just checkj out the dyno plot when I post it tomorow.

Nice , a reasonably priced 200 whp combo. This was with a stock b16 head?

I personally ported/polished the head. And im hoping to squeeze out some more power. Maybe 210-212 on a dynojet. A bigger TB and a good intake might help/.

Thanx. Too bad I couldnt make the ITBs work. They pulled up the plot of my dyno run when the engine blew at 6000 WITH the ITBs, and BEFORE VTEC the ITB's were already making like 12 more horsepower!!

What did u guys end up doing with the base timing ?? By set do u mean just set it to 16 degrees?? or did u advance the timing?

what im looking for is was the timing set before u went? or was that just setting the timing that gave up that much power?? Also, how far was it out of whack if so?

I guess I'll be the first to talk negatively:

I see PEAK power numbers, but there doesn't seem to be much MEAT to the torque or power curve. Motor seems dead until it hits the ~6800rpm.

Maybe its the type of dyno used. Maybe not, but I thought B18's put out more torque than that, particularly on the secondary lobes (non-vtec)?

huh? Look closely, 90 percent of peak torque is achieved before 3000 RPM's. Oh, and you dont want a "torque curve", you want a nice solid straight line. 135 foot/ lbs. is pretty normal for a 1.8 liter with a GSR crank, and like Ive mentioned before, this dyno reads LOWER then dynojet! stock GSR's dyno in at 135 WHP on this dyno. And if you look at my dyno Im making that much power before VTEC, which is at 5800, you cant really tell from the sheet.

I drove in there wityh unkown timing. I just put in the dizzy in the middle when I assembled the motor. Then the timing was set at 17 degrees advanced.
