Opinions on 2005s
Damn,
Last year was hard for me to decide which motorcycle to buy, this year is even worse. I mean, all the machines out right now are very, very, capable machine. I'm referring to 600's by the way.
Anywho, I want to pick another one up in a couple months, but lack the experience with anything other than Honda motorcycles. I really don't have the oportunity to ride other brand bikes too. My old bike was a 600RR before I had to sell it. But flipping through magazines, all the other bikes looks like it's just as capable. And for much less too. I know I'm going to get quite a handful of you pick what you like deal, and it's true, I'll pick what I life after I get some first hand experience from riders who have ridden each bike.
So those who have ridden quite a fair share, please feel free to comment on each. In regards to the bikes characteristics. Power is the least of my concern for each bike is "quicker" than any car I've ever been in. I'm more concerned with how the bike handles. Please feel free to share some experiences with each.
Thank You,
Len

Having not ridden any of them, I would tend to choose a ZX6R or 600RR purely based on aesthetics. All of them are around 400 lb.s wet all of them have around 120 HP. It all comes down to what you think looks better. Although the 03-04 ZX6's I liked a lot and I don't think they look as good now because of the undertail exhaust, I still think they are one of the best bikes on the market right now.

Man, I think the undertail is sexy on the ZX6R.

I have only ridden the R6, RR, and the F4i...but i would have to agree with everything above. I would own either the R6 or the RR tho, but they are the most expensive of the lot. Actually, i would own any of them...they are all pretty much the same they just feel different for each person that sits on them...until i sit on each one i can't make a decision. since nobody has stocked the '05 it is impossible for most of us "non-industry" people to give a review of a bike that isn't even out yet.
Since you are concerned with how the '05s will handle...ask the question after they are all released and people have had some time to rate each one. Because right now, everyones opinions are based on the previous years models...which all have changed in some way for '05...except the gix.

i had a chance to sit on all these 05 sport bikes, 600cc, 750cc, and the 1000cc today at the motorcycle convention show, the best seating position for me was probably the r6, its lower then most and its feels slim, the gsxr600 felt a little wide in the tank, the zx6r was slim and feels really light, the cbr600rr was nice it felt right in the middle, not too big or too slim, the lowest seating i found out of all the sport bikes was the r1.
kawasaki has 39$ a month for 24 months on their bikes. so a zx6rr would cost you.......39$ a month. (anybike under 10k) so ride it and sell it after the year is up.

thats only like a grand. you will not be able to sell it for what you owe after a season too.

This is absolutely accurate. Sometimes, the manufacturer will design the seat on their motorcycles so they're comfortable in the showroom (ie, when you're standing over the bike or sitting while it's on the sidestand), but they won't be comfy once you're moving.

the first couple days i rode my bike (600rr), the seat killed my *** after about an hour or so. i'm used to it now but just stuff like that which you will never see just sitting on a bike.

true, but how many dealers out there would let us test ride a brand new 05

unless your racing the bike, all of them are going to have more then enough power and suspention your looking for. im not the best person to ask being that ive only riden the GSXR and the RR but as far as comfort, id take the GSXR and day over the RR. the tank seems to be cut more in by the knees, and the fact that you lean more forward just seems to be more fitting and custom fit. then again im 6'3" 165lbs and for all i know your 4'11" 245lbs
As far as power... all the new 600's probably neck to neck. I would worry more about peakiness, abruptness of the fuel injection, clutch engagement, brake bite, and gear box. Those are the kind of things you have to "live" with.
As far as handling... some are quicker to steer in than others and some are easier to hold a line. I'm not sure which bike would be best for all that but from reviews, fingers point to the R6 for agility, 600RR for stability, and Gixxer for a nice blend of both. You can always add a nice steering damper for stability but if your bike doesn't have the agility from the start, you can't do anything about it.
As far as seats... yea 600RR sucks. But don't let that stop you. Just pick up a nice Corbin seat for a couple hundred bucks. The R6 is really comfortable for a sport bike. The reach is shorter and you sit a little more upright.

That reminds me of the "short" jokes my friends tease me with all the time. I'm 5'-6" but I only weigh at 115lbs.
The RR seat was hard to adjust to at first, but I got use to it real quick. It doesn't bother me at all, even on long trips.
Thanks for the advice guys, keep them coming. They're all nice bikes.

Another thing that will sway my choices is $, both for the bike and insurance.
I will be doing everything by myself this time. Being 21 sucks. Anywho, can someone confirm that Honda is the only manufacturer who requires full-coverage with their loans?
