I started riding because (in order of importance):
1) Easy to find parking where I needed to go (school, shopping, etc).
2) Great gas mileage.
3) Faster than my car for far less money.
Now:
1) Riding on the track is AWESOME!

2) Faster than my car for far less money.
3) Great for getting through gridlocked traffic (screw LA freeways!!).

My reasons for starting...
1. I thought they were cool as hell
2. Exhaust note
3. Chic magnet
4. Wheelies
Basically all the wrong reasons
Now my continual reason for riding...
1. Getting rid of my chicken strips
2. Exhaust note
3. Chic magnet
4. Longer wheelies
I guess only one things changed
But I do respect the bike a lot more now that I've gotten some close calls. And I love power wheelies out of corners! Yea and the purple haze on edge of my tires.. wish it was blue to match my bike blah blah blah

Although the cold puts the kibosh on a lot of riding, those are still my reasons.
To be honest, riding a motorcycle is the closest an average joe can come to flying.

I use to drive up and down this beautiful mountain road with my car every now and then. Bikes would either over take me or I would find my self behind some newbies. I dont ever overtake on that road with my car since I know how fast cars/bike go on that road and almost every corner is blind. It killed my fun sometimes.
Then I had a stupid idea.... If you cant beat them.... join them. My car broke. Then insted of fixing the car, I went out and bought a bike.

I agree with you on everything except the easy parking; I really don't feel good leaving mine anywhere alone except my garage.

I, too, was really uneasy about leaving my bike in any parking lot, but that's what my insurance is for.

Man I hate that. I try my best not to leave my bike at places like the mall or school.

I got one because
1) I was getting sick of looking for cars
2) The Girl factor
3) My dad has one and i always watch him and my mom leave and not come back for hours, Just seemed like the coolest thing in the world
Now
1) I love long *** joy rides
2) Good conversation piece when meeting chicks
3) Basically its now a part of me and i could never see me letting go of it.

-Gas mileage
-Addicted to riding
-Fun factor (especially at the track)
-Chick factor

I find the "chic factor" reasoning pretty interesting. There is something about a guy with a motorcycle that makes girls go wild....I've seen it happen so many times. Its like all of a sudden when a girl finds out you have a bike she wants to go out with you...I'm not complaining about it, but at the same time you gotta be able to figure out why all of a sudeen she wants to hang out with you.

What are you guys talking about? This has never happened to me. I guess you don't find many girls standing around in the canyons or at the track.

come on man forget the highschool girls, just go down to your local college/university campus and revv that motor a couple of times.
Another suggestion is to go cruising down the blvd, where they have lots of clubs/bars/cafes/lounges/shops etc.....usually on a friday/saturday night is when people are hanging out
My last suggestion is to go cruising down by the beach with your buddies and set up a BBQ or something.

What friends? I've tried but the people I've met around here are all rich spoiled kids whose parents just bought them a brand new lexus. May not have been an issue if every other word out of your spoiled *** wasn't: oh man, my new automatic car starter is sweet! [insert riddiculous alarm remote button pressing here]

I dont know man, you just gotta improvise and get creative. I personally dont like malls either where I cant keep an eye on my bike. I'd say just cruise the local strip where all the clubs/bars/cafes/lounges are, and just park in front where you can see your bike.
in my area, during the hot summer nights you'll see a lot of guys in sportbikes, choppers line up their bikes along the street in front of cafes/lounges/pool halls etc.... it looks real neat seeing all those bikes parked side by side.
a few weeks ago I was hanging with a buddy of mine who has an 04 R6. After we finished out our coffee and tea at the cafe, we went outside, started up his bike and most of the pedestrians passing by were checking out the bike anyhow, we werent looking to meet girls, but I'm sure we could use this situation to our advantage in the summer time

Just take your bike to a party or something, w/o the intent of drinking of course, go with an extra helmet and make sure people see you roll up and if they dont just walk around the party holding your helmet. Babe Magnet

Ya, girls are great. Might give you the time of day until, "oh, you have a bike!, I want a ride". Perfect situation. Girl at work gets all excited when I talk about riding etc, but seems only wants to chill then. Date bad, marry good guys
