Because GSR engines a re B-series, everyone KNOWS b-series is da bomb...B-series and Civic goes together like spaghetti and meatbol!
GSR engine is lighter than the h22a ...Can you use the stock b16 engine mounts with the b18c?? If so, there's a great reason to pick the GSR engine over the h22a. The h22a is after all an H-series, a lot of electrical converting, or at least that's what alot of people believe. And the H22a has FRM cylinder walls, it's basically required to get the h22a resleeved before fitting it with forged pistons...So if you're going to build the bottom-end of your engine the h22a will require a lot more work, but that still might not be all that bad if you plan on big boost anyways. But people stick with what they know, B-series is the most popular of course, there is a lot of research and experience with it, more so than the h-series. So that's about it in a nutshell...
