Default Props to all you welders

I am in an autobody class at school and basically a bunch of hillbillies are in it and just sit around or work on their trucks. Our instructor is always busy so I asked some kid to help me set up the welder. He threw a few pointers at me but took off afterwards. I basically had to teach myself how to weld. I can get a solid bead going but it puddles up and does not look super strong. I also have a hard time with the pull becuase of my big *** gloves I have. After I got the space explosions taken care of my bead could finally start(i was doing a lap weld) I ended up staying in one spot too long and burnt through it a tad. I tried it again with a buttweld and had a much harder time getting it going. In the end the weld was structurally sound but looked like ***. The bead is super wide and has no ripples like the nice beads you guys get going. I guess I need more time with the welder thats all.
