$500-Tell me what suspension stuff I should get.
I have $500 to spend on a shocks/springs for my '95 gsr. I'm thinking about doing Tokico Illuminas (5way) and Ground Control coilovers. My other option is a used (like 2 weeks of use) set of Eibach sportline springs for $150 and either the Illuminas or HP's. The HP's are cheap and the springs are really cheap too. Then I would have money left for a camber kit.
What do you guys think? Feel free to include other examples.

I'm pretty sure that if you want Illuminas and GC's, it'll cost you more than 500. As for the Eibach's, why not just get a new set? New Sportlines cost about 180. As for the camber kit, you won't likely need one. Just get an alignment and make sure to rotate your tires.
Other springs you can look at are the H&R Sports, and for shocks, KYB AGX's, which run at about the same price, or the Koni Yellows.

I hate that quote... and i've heard omni power is good as well
As for me, I have ground controls that I got for 180 on H-T and AGXs that I got for $200 but they usually go for $307 shipped on ebay.... the AGX/GC setup is nice too and around your price range.

I would do either:
Koni Yellows and keep your stock springs. Upgrade the springs later is you desire.
or
Don't touch the springs and shocks and get a rear swaybar.

I'm interested, but a trial user and cannot use the instant message function. Write, back if you want me to consider.
Also, I'd worry about shocks later, but the stocks are blown and I'm tired of riding 4X4. Time to upgrade both springs and shocks.

As well as it's a complete fallacy in the absolute level. If you get what you pay for then, you basically give up you right as a smart consumer become a mindless slave to marketers.
Also you must consider the cost of alignment and possible camber kit as well.

not necessarily... what happens when you get a good deal on a good product? Do you "get what you pay for" in that case, or did you just get a good deal?

revised; usually, under normal circumstances, you get what you pay for.
my point is that quality is more expensive, although we all have buddies that hook us up, and occasionally we come across someone selling or something being sold for less than the average price.

Yup, so the quote isnt a fallacy, it just has two sides to it.

The old saying refers to comparing products across manufacturers, not comparing prices from different vendors for the same product.
And no, it's not a definite. Not by a long shot.
A prime example is Colibri lighters. I have one and it was obscenely expensive as far as lighters go so according to the rule I should be in possession of one badass lighter. Sadly, it is the worst lighter ever made and even though it costs more than 150 times what a Bic costs, it performs 200 worse. In this case, I did not get what I paid for.

Sad about your lighter situation. However, I'm still in search of some good shocks/springs. Someone send me a link to some omnipower coilovers, these seem to be pretty popular. If I don't get them, its Eibach/Tockico Illuminas.
I also don't think you'll be able to find GC & illuminas for under 500.
What do you have planned for the car? Only street driving? Autocross? etc
I currently have H&R sports with KYB AGX on my 98 GSR and it's a great setup for street/daily driving. Unfortunately, both items will suck for anything else
I've been doing more togue lately and the AGX just don't hold anywhere near where I want them to.
If you plan for more than street driving, then save up more and get a full coilover setup. As soon as I sell my ITR front seats, I'll be switching my susp.
