Default Should I buy an ITR or not??? Help me decide!

As some of you may or may not know, my Si was stolen (made a thread about that in here for advice on dealing with my insurance company)

Originally I was not even considering an ITR as a replacement mainly because I saw how easily the Si was stolen and I'd hate to see an ITR go like that especially if I know I live in a targeted area.

I was going to (and still may) get an 05 rsx-s (which would require me to take out a loan) however, If I decide to buy a car cash I can spend up to 17,000. First of all can I even get a nice itr that's not beat, heavily modded, etc for 17k? Also what can be done to protect the car from theft which is the main reason why I wasn't going to buy one in the first place. What do you guys/girls think is my best move?

ps. If I get one I would want an 00-01 black itr, so please keep your eyes open.

Again thank you for all the help.

Mike

Yeah I agree and as of right now moving just can't happen. I guess an rsx would be at risk too but I guess its a little safer then an itr. **** I hate ******** that steal stuff. I swear when I get out of the academy for the City of Charlotte I'm cracking down on these ******** as much as i can from a patrol stand point!

i would be strongly against you getting an ITR because it seems as though you need a daily driver. although the ITR is a very capable dd, theft rates are simply too high and not worth the risk. with the money you have, you definitely can find a ITR, but it comes down to whether or not you want to be dealing with this crap again. unfortunately, as a R owner, i've accepted that it is inevitable that my car gets stolen or i wreck it.

There are many really nice 97, 98 heavily modified with decent model ITR's floating around for 17000. I just saw a Canadian Model ITR fully registered for 17000 and it was definitely modified. Really nice deal, you should check the classifieds!

As sick as this may sound, get the R drive it for a year and then tempt some thieves. You will get more than you paid for it and drive it for free, get out and
have your fun. Sad thing is, more than one R owner on this board has made out nicely from "bad" fortune. I say, forget thieves. Do what you want, adjusting to thieves is like drinking tap water laced with arsenic. "It doesnt make you sick unless you are used to it", "You get used to it after a while." I say, buy some Aquafina. Live your life. If they take your stuff, be sure you are insured. Just be smart about R bling. Talking your stuff "down" in most cases deflects alot of envy IMHO
