k24 into EP3
Just wondering.. can the K24 drop into the Ep3 without any major mods? I know the intake manifold is different, but can the K20a3 manifold bolt up to the K24a4 motor? I know the K24 has the EGR valve. What else is different? ANy help would be greatly appreciated.
I only need the mount if I'm using the K24 tranny, right? What about with the K20 tranny? Or is the height difference of the 2 blocks require the use of the K24 mount? What about intake manifold? I looked at the motor already.. It does have the EGR valve.
Thanks for the prompt reply

I can't visualize them at this time , but the metal manifold cannot be put on the plastic one, reason being is the plastic one shares the components of a K20a2 header, aka (coolant block on the front) where the k24a2 or the k20a3 are on the sides (with a braket) henze you have the metal intake manifold.
if you remove the manifold you'll realize you have an exposed coolant port that needs to be plugged if you wanna run a Type-S or Type-R manifold.

Ok,
what k24a do you have? From what car?
Most EP3 people who do this use the CR-V k24a WITHOUT the egr crap.
Since you seem to have an accord/element one, keep in mind that you will have to use the k24a intake manifold. You cannot use the type S, type R or Si manifold. That is what I understand.
User HotWjeelz, eliminated the egr on his TSX , but it was a pain in the *** from what I understand.

Well.. I was planning on doing the Type S head as well, but I'm itching to drop the motor in and see what kind of gain I'll be able to get without the head swap.
But from what I know/guess the K24 manifold is too big and it'll hit the front rad support/rad. That's why I was asking about the compatibility of the Si manifold. If it's going to be too much trouble to use the motor in stock form.. I'll guess I'll have to bite the bullet and do the Type S head conversion as well. Hoping to find a 6 spd tranny as well.

I'm still not 100% sure what K24 you're getting. If you're getting one of the 200 HP CL7/CL9 motors, remember that the six speed in those cars will not fit your EP3. You need a DC5 or EP3 CTR six speed.

Thanks for the heads up regarding the tranny.. I'm aware of the difference of the K24 6 spd tranny and the K20 6spd tranny... I know there's a difference, but I don't know what hte difference is.. Would you care to share? I'm assuming the mounts/mounting position are in different locations. Correct?
Thanks.
