Well my car is stored for winter as of last night. I've done all the obvious things full tank of gas and Sta-bil, fresh oil change and fluid top up,wash and wax interior cleaning, car cover, crakced the window a bit, cardboard under the car to help stop moisture from rising(in a garage.
Now my question to all of you is........Would you put your car on jackstands or put crappy tires on and pump it up to 50psi???
I searched and there are alot of mixed reviews about it. I know that suspension is meant to be compressed so that's why I think to leave it on crap ties.
What are some f the downfalls that people have heard from putting car on stands??
1 thing I heard was the rods were exposed and could rust causing the shocks to blow
TIA

If you put it on jackstands... how about putting them on the LCAs.... that way the suspension is compressed and you can still store your wheels/tires in a warm inside environment.
This was my plan for winterizing. I'll be doing it soon.

Well I'll still be able to put my good tires and rims in a warm enviroment because I'll have seperate tires and rims to store them on.
but good idea for those who don't.

You should NOT drain all fluids.
Bump up the PSI on the existing tires and you will be OK. No need to put on jackstands. But then again, this is a matter of personal preference.

DO NOT DRAIN ALL FLUIDS!!! Change the fluids before storage and after storage to be really safe.
btw, here you go...

If you choose to use Jack stands, fine, take a piece of wood and slide it between the tire and the ground to prevent the suspension from a full hang.
Just use normal air psi in the tires.
Please fill your gas up all the way.
best to change the oil, prevent the dirt from settling in.
and be sure to keep the vents in the car open.

When I store my car,
-change fluids (oil, tranny, etc...I do everyfluid once a yr)
-clean outside/inside
-leave window slightly cracked, vents open
-take off wheels and leave car on jack stands
-cover it with a car cover
did it with my R last winter and currently with the S this winter

i think its best to start it once in a while or take it for a spin if weather is nice and for that just leave it with same tires.. as long as they don't go flat you should be fine.
someone mind explaining the reason behind window slightly cracked? wouldn't that let moisture in especially if outside??

think of the reverse effect. you're relieving the condensation inside.

If you want to drive it, then make sure you drive it until its fully up to temp and run for a while - at least 15-20 minutes.

We were talking about storing the car?
When it sits condensation will build up in the crankcase and exhaust system..... you want to run it until its hot to burn that off if its been in storage.

just drain all the coolant out then start it and let it get to temperature
...then let it idel like that for about 10 ore mins...if you notice smoke coming from the engine, its just old grease burning off
J/K! so you dont DRAIN the oil because dirt will settle? it will settle anyways if theres oil in it...over week period all fragments of just about anythign will sink to the bottom, and soak into the grime or w/e is at the seat on the pan. i dont know...its JUST what i have read from past threads. it also depends on how long it is stored

Why?
You can let it sit for 3, 6 months w/o starting it. No need to.

i'm not saying it's the worst thing to start your car but deffinately no need to put wear on it when not needed.
let it sit for the time it's off the road.

Thats exaclty how i store mine. In addition, i also start it every other friday and let it get to normal operating temp.
