cost is going to be relative to where you live. some shops charge more, some less. be sure you do some research before hand tho. ck out as many shops in your area as you can find and get as many price quotes as possible until you find one that you like. just bear in mind, you get what you pay for. good luck

you could do a search...

if you are looking @ a grand you are looking @ a shitty paint job.

they'll just spray over your car. 3g's will get them to go into the door jams and everything. i suggest you save up, and do it right.

Also, look to spend more on quality of paint. As well as clear coats. The more the higher.

I don't think a $1000 paint job would be a bad paint job. That is if the prep work is done first. Painting (sprayin) a car is not a big deal and doesn't take much time. If you know somebody that has a spray booth and equipment and you buy the paint and prep the car they may do if for free. But they most likely aren't going to spend 20 hours filling dings, cleaning grease out of the door jams etc. I think those 200-500 paint jobs they wipe off the car, tape off windows, and spray all in about 15 min. But if you had the car ready to paint and they used good paint or you supplied it for them it could be a great paint job.

yo i know a little about painting a car its like this "fact" U GET WHAT U PAY FOR.
but as far as pricing for around 300 u will get cheap paint & basically no dents taken out, paint might be dull in some spots. u spend around 600 u will get decent paint & most smaller dings out & maybe jams. around 1000 u will get good paint all small dings gone & dents (big ones cost more) jams .anything over a G u are looking a a good job, also u start getting into custom colors & no seams on bumpers. just watch out where u go their are alot of hacks out their. a rule of thumb shops that deal with good insurance company's are almost always good. hope it helps. aslo averages are diff in some states but that's a perty good figure. good luck.

**** man i got my car painted for a steal. well 1st off my friend gets all his car's painted at his local paint shop so he gets the hookups. and when i got my whole car painted, i did not have any body work done to it. just only paint. it cost me a WHOPPING $330 bucks for the ENTIRE car minus door jams and engine bay cuz i got the car repainted in the same color = Black. car looked and still looks shiny as a ****. my friend has a 92 civic hatch and got his car painted like 3-4 times already (all different colors. he's crazy liek that and likes to rock a new look every now and then. lol). he spends about $250 to get his car painted, with cutsom paint jobs too.

If you know anything about prepping a car for paint, which I doubt since you asked this question and it's your first post, then you could prep it yourself and take it to Maaco for 300 bucks. Prepping and wet sanding are the most important parts of painting. Of course, it does take a little skill.

I work at a body shop. If your car is in decent shape and only need a few dings replace...and are also wanting to paint your jambs, engine bay, etc...it would cost in the range of $2000-3000 at my shop. Granted I'm in North Carolina. Just remember that you get what you pay for.

we don't hate the labor part. It's just work. Granted it's not the funnest thing in the world...but it's not the worst. But it is a time savor for the customer to prep it himself. But by doing that, the body shop man doesn't make as much money.

it sounds like Maaco will suit your needs fine. he said he doesn't want to spend a fortune. just look around your area for the Maaco with the better reputation. i wouldnt venture off too far from your original color if you're getting it done by Maaco.

I ust to work at a body shop and our general rule of thumb was a complete color change bottom line was about $1,500 and that was baicaly wet sanding it and shooting it. Now if you need body work the price goes up from there. My advise is that if your going to do it, I would save up my money get the body as stright as possible for painting and pay someone a prety penny to get a nice slick paint job... Trust me you wont regret it. U will look at someones paint job that is shity and look at a good paint job and you will see that the extra money really does pay off... So if you want your teg to look its best then SAVE and get it done right the first time and your garunteed to turn heads...

i learned you get what you pay for the hard way. either spend the money or leave it the color it is.

It all depends on you, and how much you want to spend. You can get a paint for 1500 to 5000 dollars. It depends on what paint they use and so on.... I paid 2500 and that included panting the engine bay... Remeber you get what you pay for!
