i read something about the shortest tranny using zc gears and crx si fd....or it could be the other way around, but it's something along those lines...

i'm quiet satisfied with the a6 tranny. i've not done actual road races per say but at hpde's i run a z6 with an si trans. and don't get totally spanked. i fair pretty well with the spec miata's.

You lose momentum from shifting no matter how fast you can shift..and with the 4psd you can stay in the same gear longer then you could then with an si/zc tranny

Imagine that you're on the straight away to the end and you're neck and neck with some other guy who has a crx with an a6 but he has a si tranny..You'll be in 4th gear and still pulling..but this guy will be in 4th gear and will have to shift soon..Then when he does he loses momentum and you end up in front...
Obviously the 4spd wont accelerate as fast in the lower gears but if only you could shorten the 2nd gear that tranny wouldnt be as bad as everyone makes it out to be
Also you can find a 4psd tranny for like $20-50 because everyone thinks they're garbage....

Im sure no one will agree with me ..But thats my opinion..

Actually that makes total sense, it's one more gear you don't have to shift...I didn't realize you meant with different gears than stock, because in that case the si tranny would eat a 4spd.

I never thought of that but for drag/autoX that's actually not a bad idea.
