Default Tranny Slipping . . . sort of

Well I have a 2001 Honda Accord LX 4 cylinder with fagomatic transmission. The tranny seems to slip a bit right as it shifts. It is between the 2-3 shift and the revs just jump about 500 rpm before it shifts. I am thinking (wishfully) that my tranny fluid just needs to be changed after 80,000 miles of abuse and is turning to goo. Any ideas other than that? Thanks.

P.S. Don't say I need a new tranny. That would suck! But I guess if you really think that you can say it.

check your tranny fluid. dab a little fluid from the dipstick onto a piece of white (preferably thick) paper. a red/pink color is good (which i'm sure you know). brown is burnt and needs to be changed. dark brown is really bad... and might be an indication of tranny wear.

most likely though, either you just need to change the fluid, or the fluid level is low. in either case, with 80,000 miles on the current fluid, you need to change it.

Cool, thanks. The only car I have been worrying about lately is my 90 with the H22. I sort of neglected my 2001 after I got it. Thanks again.

Do a complete fluid flush with Honda ATF. If it still slips it could be the linear solenoid ? Easy DIY fix $150. ish ?
