Default LS/VTEC: oil pan question

I was wondering, if you did a LS/VTEC (GSR head) would you have to also change out your oil pan? I recently bought a DC2 w/ LSVTEC and the oil pan is leaking from a tiny little crack. If the P72 oil pan has to be used on a LS block, why would it have to be used? And would it bolt right up or would you have to retro fit it?

you can use either pan and they will bolt right up
you have to use a p72 pan if you want to use a block girdle or a jdm 4-1 itr header

advantages to using a block girdle are kinda obvious..... the crank mains are held in place better with much better support.. its essential for high hp appz... i would recommend getting one and also getting gsr/type-r oil squirters if u go high hp...
