i drove a 01 maxima se 20th anniversary 5 speed. it has the 3.0L V6 with 227hp. and i'll tell you what, this thing is quick. i took it out and got to race this modded civic with at least exhaust. and i smoked it. it wasn't even funny. like he was standing still. grant it i can smoke civics in my prelude. but i have a feeling this thing can take my lude. it pulls pretty hard throughout the rpms. maybe not as much high end as the lude but it's still pretty strong. definately got the advantage in the low end that's no question. for any of you who have actually raced a maxima, how was the outcome?

one thing's for sure, my lude will trample the maxima on the twisties. i just dont' think its suspension is close to par with the lude's. of course it is a mid-size sedan.

anyway, i agree, a friend of mine has a 00 maxima v6, and it'll tear it up.
they're pretty damn impressive for what they are.
i here the 02's are even badder.
i wanna see the maxima v6 and the accord v6 run'em.

 

sorry guys but a V6 maxima will beat any prelude except maybe 4th gen VTEC. stock for stock, down 1320. in the twisties though, we all know maxima couldn't keep up. but these two cars shouldn't even be compared. different class, different displacements, size....

I smoke S2000s, WRXs, and of course V8s (they're mandatory) all day in my modded H22 powered EG. I wonder how that silly Maxima of yours would fare against mine?

 

Yeah, well I've never been beaten by a Maxima either. However, a member here and former built 13 second H22A1 owner "VeeTec" bought a 97 or so Maxima, and ran a 14.70 something with 120,000 on the clock. Stock everything, and burning clutch. I was amazed. Stock for stock, those things are beasts.

Modded vs. modded? Think of a SC on that vs. a SC on a 97+ Lude. The V6 is going to net more HP from FI. Steven Millen knows what he's doing.

 

I raced a friend with V6 maxima a few months ago...it was a good race, about even for the first 100 feet or so, then I pulled on him and took a couple car lengths by about 90. They can't beat my lude, but they certainly aren't bad for a sedan! The guy a raced also got his car up to 150, I know I couldn't do that in the lude.

 

I'm no Prelude, but I drive a 01 R with intake and he stayed ahead till the end of 2nd, then I walked him after that. They are definitly quick and really nice!

 

they must have made a drastic change from 93 maximas i raced one of them and pretty much blew his doors off. the 93 maxi only runs like a 16.5 or something. and i coulda swore i saw some newer ones (as in 95 or 96) at steele runnin low 16's but they were probably autos. hey yellowitr i was just in woodstock 3 or 4 weeks ago. do you know a guy with a 97 240sx black with 17's on it? i went to look at his car for my g.f.

 

actually, two days after I bought my car, one cought me sleeping at a light and got the jump, and I never cought up.

I have since had my revenge on other new maximas, but they are fast.

Maximas were a handfull with my boltons.. still havent raced one with tha boost but I bet it wont be a problem.

 

Yes I do. My EG has smoked modded S2000s with just I/E/H(w/ severely dinged collector too). I drove my friend's S2K a week ago & when I gunned that thing, I found out why. Looks sweet..but slow.

Umm, yeah, thats common terminolgy around here...

 

the reason max's are so fast is because they have so much torque. other than that they are just like any front wheel drive car. they also weigh a lot, so beating one in a 5th gen shouldn't be hard with a few mods...maybe none with a V-TEC.

 

i've had my needle buried to just past the 150 mark. how accurate is the speedo on the prelude anyway? the fastest i've ever been in any car is 165 in a corvettte zr1

 

my boy has a 02 maximum and we raced and i took him off the line bc my is stick but he took me after second gear, that car is pretty quick, id would hate to see it in a stick, it a damn nice ride.

 

Atleast he didn't spell it VTECH or V-TECH.

 

someone in here is on crack "s2000's are slow." i guess thats why they only have 240 horsepower and a 9000 rpm redline. stock versus stock, there is no damn way ANY prelude could beat one.

 

Well, an H22A shoe horned into a hatch would be 13's if it was stripped and not very many mods. LOL

 

maybe im an idiot...but how do you drop two intake valves into a combustion chamber? isn't this a lot of work?
