At what point are my axles in danger (drag radials) ?
Not like I'm making big power eh, but axles are hard to come by down here...
I am n/a, making about ~170's at the wheels, gsr in a hatch NO LSD. I take it to the track on 14 inchers with Falken 512's and spin like a **** on the launch (the track is kinda crappy). A buddy said he could lend me some Nitto 555's on 15's if I wanted to try em.
I want to try them, but don't want to launch hard and break anything... am I pretty safe at my power level or do I need to be really careful ? (Never ran drag rads at the track b4)

Axles suck in general and like to break, especially at the track. Do yourself a favor and get some aftermarket strenghthend axles. You dont know pain until you snap an axle in the tranny at the track. no fun.
Just hope that there is no wheel hop otherwise you could break a diff.. That is way worse than an axle. If you are not willing to take a chance then you shouldn't even go to the track or try to race your car. You can break a number of things at the track or on the streets from racing. My friend Jon broke some axles on the street, another friend of mine broke a diff at the track, and I have broken three axles at the track do to a spool and not enough power. So anything can happen.
This is a toughie, one of my buddies runs 204 WHP N/A (Gsr block, full Skunk2 head) on radials and has broken a couple of shafts at the track this year. This is on a '91 Civic SI (hatchie obviously).
On the other hand another one of my buddies runs 219 WHP N/A (ITR block, full Skunk2 head) on radials and has broken like 1 shaft in the past 3 years. This is on a '89 CRX.
Really depends on wheel hop and the stress on the shafts (that sounded gay). We always buy shafts that have atleast a one year warranty, most we get have lifetime. So you break em' you get a new one no questions asked. We almost always bring 2 extra shafts each, just to be safe (there were way too many "shaft"s in this post for my liking, but if it helps it's worth it, lol).

I have done it in a cheap way, after swaping back my stock D16Y7 the axles wont fit, and since i have a DC2 5 lug conversion i will need to modify the axles.
All i did is grab a pair of accords axle and CNC machined the outer end. dont know what it called in english. cheap upgraded axles..
