Default Finally closer to buy ing a bike. Question for 600RR enthusiasts?

I was on here a lot in the beginning of the year but I kinda let go of the dream to get a bike. Well I have a beater now and my wife wants a CRV so the compromise is for me to get a bike.

I LOVE the 04 Blue......sux its not gonna be a color for the 05's....so I'll be looking to buy a brand new 04. My question is how long do you guys think I have before I won't be able to find Blue 04's brand new......I want it now but I'm willing to wait a few months. Need to still take my motorcycle course and get some gear...plus its cold in GA so it would suck to have a bike and have extremely limited days when I could ride it 9after work and school).

Also In march i was quoted a price of 7459 (b4 out the door) for a blue 04.....will the prices get any cheaper since they are looking to sell the 05's. I remember when I 1st got on here 03's were going for a little cheaper then 04's, so I'm wondering if it will be the same thing this time around which will def. motivate me to wait a lil longer. Thanks in advance guys.

I'm not sure how the market is in Canada, but the blue RRs were gone bye the summer here in SoCal. The '04s are practically vacant from most showroom floors. you have a few months to save up some coin, to buy a new '05. If you really want to blue, what is so bad about buying used?

canada? who said canada. i think he said he's in GA
if your dealers still have 04s then you should probably jump on that quick and just haggle with them instead of the risk of them being sold out. plus, it might help you bring the price down a smidge since the 05 got some updates even though it is $200 more now.

You dead set on getting a brand new bike? honestly, I brought my 02 1000 new and if I brought another bike, it would be used (unless I fall in love with a new bike). You can save on buying a used bike (blue is a 04 color only) and maybe just buy a CRV for your wife. But, some dealers go crazy at the end of the year and blow out their stock. But Blue is a popular color, so do not expect crack pipe prices.

But before you even think about buying a bike, get that MSF course done!

When i got mine there was myself and anothre guy going to buy the bike at the same time. I beat him to the shop by like 15 minutes. already had my paperwork all filled out and since he never put money down i got the bike. When talking to the salesman he said it was getting hard to get the blue ones anymore and that was in June. Hell that was one of the things that made me buy mine.
I would start looking. If you can get with a nice shop they should be able to help locate one for you. It may not be real cheal to have one shipped in, bu if it is what you really want.

One more thing. They still had 03's left when i got mine, only yellow. And they were all about $750 less than a 04.
I still got mine for a great pirce and free helmet in the deal.

you shouldn't have too much trouble finding an 04 but getting a blue 04 may be tricky.

Just wait a year and let someone else take that depreciation hit for driving it off the lot. If it's your first bike, buying used certainly couldn't hurt. It'll still be under warranty so just try to find someone gives you the vibe of a responsible owner.

Yes i'll be a new rider (requisite rantings of new riders and new bikes feel free to flame). I wanted a newwer bike because i plan on buying half of it cash and financing the rest.

I have gone a full year pretty much after selling my hybrid without any performance oriented vehicle in my grasp....to say i'm going stir crazy is an understatement.

My wife is just rejoining the workforce so she won't be making much money very soon so we really can't afford to car notes ( I was getting a EVO). The CRV makes more sense family wise but I'm not going another year driving boring *** cars and beingbored out of my mind. I always wanted a car and I feel now is a good time to get into one.

I guess the all black CBR's isn't bad if I can't find a blue one....god that blue was sweet. I'll check with my local dealer this weekend and see what he says......if they are indeed gone then I will put some money up to get on the waiting list for an all black one in March.

so your saying if its not an 04 it wont be fun? i was gonna get a new one too, until i realized it was cool to save 5k$ and just get one that was 2-3 years old. Esp if your bitching you dont have money and wanna pay 1/2 in cash, just take that 1/2 in cash and buy an 01-02 of something and have a blast with no payments

I used to be like you. Then I realized that buying an '03 would save me enough money and I wouldn't have to finance a single cent.

to being payment free

i agree 100%, don't finance a bike. you rarely get good deals on new ones anyways.
i.e. my 04 600rr w/ tons of extras and ~1k on the clock ran me about $6k. (in socal)

also color doesn't really matter; there are always people who want to switch it up and swap plastics. i've been thinking about trading in the red/black for just black or something.

Ask yourself why you need a CBR 600RR. The F4i is more comfortable, cheaper, and actually faster than the RR in the 1/4 by a good couple tenths. I'm not BSing here. I think the RR looks hot too (probably your motivation), but unless you are hitting the circuit regularly, it just ain't worth it.

You may have waited too long for an 04. I got my 04 right before the 05s came in, so I got the best deal possible. That was in September. The 05s are already in, so most of the 04s are gone.

My advice (and the advice of probably 99% of the people in here): get a bike you can buy outright. If you stretch your finances to buy a new bike, what will happen when you drop it? Can you afford to fix it?

A used CBR or SV would be my recommendation...but I don't give 2 ***** about a bike's stunna appeal, or having the newest, pimpiest machine. I don't sit around in parking lots...maybe you won't either.

Yeah but $5K for a clean 'newer' 600 is a good deal in anyone's eyes so you gotta really look around.

My suggestion always on "What bike to get" kinda questions is "Get the bike you 'want' not the one you have to settle for."

Face it, having a bike is more a luxury than necessity for most of us. Why 'settle' on a luxury item?

I understand if this would be someone's 1st bike (learner biker) but if you're planning on riding it for a couple of years, get the one you 'want'.

I know riding even a beater is exhilarating but I think most of us will agree that it feels fantastic to wake up in the morning and seeing the bike of your dreams, sitting there in your garage, just waiting to be ridin'.

There is a difference between settling and buying something appropriate to your needs.

If you buy a bike that has more performance than you will ever possibly use, that's silly. Especially since such bikes are less practical to own.

To me, bikes like the SV, Super Hawk, VFR, Aprilia Tuono, etc. are more attractive than Gixxer750s and the like. No reason to buy a big, huge sportbike unless you are racing it. JMHO

No one ever gets their dream first, unless they inherited a lot of money. Buy a bike you can afford and one you like. If you're still riding in 3 years, then you go for the dream bike.

As I mentioned before, I wanted a spankin' new bike. I was absolutely dead set on getting a new CBR because I loved the way they looked and it's what I always aspired for (aside from a 916). I thought the SVS was an ugly *** bike and considering it, even though I'd have no payments, meant I was settling. Now, I just stare at the pictures of my SVS that I bought from someone else at work all day and I smile. I'm willing to bet this guy will do the same thing, even if it isn't a 600RR.

Think about it this way... would you rather lose your virginity to another virgin who doesn't know **** about the world, or would you rather be with a slightly older woman who will take your licks and still teach you a few things? I prefer the latter until I'm old enough to appreciate the virgin, thanks.

normally, i'd say go for the bike you REALLY want as long as its within reason, which i personally think staying 600cc and below is within reason. if you had the funds, i would say go for the 600rr instead of settling for the cbr f4i. that's kind of where i stand, i bought my 2003 yzf600r used but a part of me regrets not just going with a newer, used R6. but since saving a couple hundred bucks seems to be REALLY important to you, i agree with what everyone else has said... just get another newer, used bike. you're gonna want to kill someone if you drop that brand spanking new 600rr and seems like you'll be scrounging for money to repair it.

damn 5k for a 03? Where were you when i got my bike. lol. i got a decent deal, but nothing like that.

I had to settle for an older bike at first with the dream of getting the bike i have now. I was gonna get a new one this time around, but i was sooo stuck on getting the one i had pictured for years so i found a nice used one and am more than happy
