depends what u wanna spend. inverter welders are cheaper, around $500 or so, but i think they only do DC which wont do aluminum. they can run on 110 volt. one of the cheapest AC welders(to do aluminum) i have seen are the hobart tigmate and miller econotig. they run around $1300. they both run on 220 power. theres a start. i'm not one of the pro welders here
You should look into ESAB. They make a machine that "does it all"-SMAW(arc), GMAW(mig), GTAW(tig) and even plasma cutting. I personally dont have any experience with these machines, or know the exact price, it may be a little steep for just a beginner. I personally have used both miller and lincoln machines...and I would much rather use a lincoln machine over a miller. Just my two cents though.
