tranny to block bolt hole stripped
this may or may not be the best place to post this but it feels good since everyone here knows a bit about fabrication.
ok the other day i noticed that one of the large 17mm bolts that hold the tranny to the block was loose. i tried to tighten it up and it went in but wont get tight. it gets to sitting flush with the tranny and then just spins. i at first thought that the bolt had broken off in the block but i removed the bolt and its intact. it seems to partially grab the threads with no real torque on it but it wont hold the torque at all. i can see parts of the blocks threads on the bolts threads. im sure its stripped out. has anyone had this happen? i know its not a HUGE deal since it has plenty of other support, but id rather not leave it like that. what should i do to fix this? drill out the block and retap for a larger bolt? is there anything i could do to the block to restore the threads of the same size? any help is greatly appreciated.
