Default 98-1130 was damage Tuesday night (11-30-04) (Hit and Run)

I was asleep when this happen. My bro and his girl was watching tv when they heard a loud crash, they looked outside the window and notice that someone just hit a parked car (but didnt know it was my car). So my brother stared at it for a good 10 sec while the person driving the car was trying to get their car to start back up. My brother then came banging on my door, I woke up in shock, looked outside the window and notice that my alarm is going off. I then went to my brother room to get a better view of whats going on (keep in mind that im still half asleep). My brother asked me about a 100 times, "is that your car?" Then he yelled, "that is your car!"

By this time the person was able to get the car started and took off. My brother ran downstairs and I followed behind, I then turn around and ran back to my room and grabed a golf club and ran downstairs. My bro hopped onto his car and I stayed behind waiting for the police. Unfortunately my brother wasnt able to find that idiot and to make things worse, it took the police 1 hour to show up, and it was really cold too.

The weird thing is, My car was hit pretty hard to have it pused all the way onto the sidewalk and into an apartment complex brick/gate railing. I didnt touch the car till the police showed up. So I didnt know how bad the damage was, but when the police showed they help me back the car up so that it wouldnt slam onto the curb, and we inspect the damage and it wasnt as bad as it looked. Considering that it was pushed and lifted onto the sidwalk. I have wide pics of the crash where it shows the whole view of the sidewalk but it looks dark on a monitor so I guess i wont be uploading those pics, but it looks fine on the digi cam.

As of right now I dont know if my insurance will cover it since it was a hit and run. I got different answers from people, some saying that I wont be covered cause i dont have "uninsured motorist" in my policy and others are saying that I will be covered since it's "property damage." The insurance peeps said that they'll be calling me in 2 days.

BTW, I have a feeling that the person lives by me and was trying to park when they rear ended my car. Seeing how the collison was dead center. I had a car cover on so I guess whoever it was didnt see my car and proceeded to try and park. I have pieces of thier bumper and stuff that fell off their car, so Imma be going around matching it up. I dont know if i mention it but the vehicle that hit my car looks like a minivan.

Sorry to hear I had a hit and run on my Hype R, but it was not nearly that bad.

FYI - Hit and run is typically covered under collision. Disclaimer: That is the case in NC, check with your agent to be sure.

Sorry to hear about what happened. Hit and run drivers = To tell ya the truth though, I thought there would be more damage considering how far your car was moved.

As for the insurance, check your policy contract... most likely it will fall under collission. If its covered, fight for them to pay for OEM parts, or pay the difference.. unless of course you live in one of the states that the insurance company is required to use OEM parts if requested by the policy holder by law. When my old car was in a hit and run, I got the insurance company to pay for the OEM parts by having them goto a body shop of my choice which will not use aftermarket parts due to fit problems. Check over your estimate carefully, and dispute any lowball numbers. My company gave a lowball estimate saying they could have it done elsewhere for $X.. I got an estimate from the shop they said the quote came from, and it was much higher. They paid out.

I hope things work out for ya man, and once again, sorry about the R.

Hit and run drivers

I had a woman hit and run my R this summer, I got the plate though and she got busted, then pleaded not guilty when I was leaving town and I couldnt make the court.

Hit and run drivers are second to theives.

You know what, I havent tried opening my hatch yet, lol. I just got done talking to my insurance broker and just found out that I DO have coverage for "uninsured motorist." Im still waiting for the adjuster to call me up. Umm, Im going to take my car to my local Acura dealership and have them work on it. I'd feel much better knowing that people working for Acura is working on my car instead of some random body shop. About the JDM conversion, I think I'll pass. My car is completely stock with the exception of the corner lights, and I'd like to keep it that way. Oh ya, my Type R bra is ok. It has some white scrape marks on there but nothing major.

Default "UNGAWA!" <--- That's caveman for "Sigh... that sucks."

You know... I never knew hit and run was that common. Until one day my girlfriend's (now wife) car got hit so hard it crossed the street (with the e-brake and in park), my father in-law's car got hit and run (twice), my wife's car (the integra) got hit and run, and a neighbor was involved in a hit and run (kinda... story below). All this within 2 years.

Neighbor's story. He was at a stop sign and pulled out in front of someone. They T-Boned him hard (neighbors fault) but the person who was not at fault ran.
