speedometer rattle?
Has anyone else had/have a rattle coming from their speedometer cable? This seems to happen every winter but its twice as loud this year.
I have a 91 civic deluxe (dx) and cant seem to find a replacement cable or suggestion on how to re-lube it anywhere online.

Which ones? I am having the same problem too, i just kind of ignored it... it's really annoying till the car warms up in the winter.

first check the screws and grease (lithium grease or any all purpose grease should work here) up where the cable goes into the cluster.
if that doesnt fix it try opening up the cluster and spraying the gearsbehind the gauge face with a lil lithium grease

Got it fixed last night. Super easy. I got a can of white lithium grease. All I did was disconnect the speedo cable from the guage, then went under the hood and removed the speedo cable from the trani. Just a rubber boot and a retaining clip holding it in.
After that you can pull the inner wire from the speedometer cable out of the sheath. Then I just cleaned it and greased the crap out of it and slid it back into the sheath. Best $3 fix yet.
The only down side is I found a coolant leak coming from one of those rubber hoses near the manifold. Need to get some tubing tonight.
