Default Kinda OT: but I plan to Move to warmer area..any suggestions?

yeah, been here in Pittsburgh too long..almost 8 years..
my bone is too old for the cold winter... I think this will be my last year here..
(so by the end of 2002 I hope I can wear T-shirt and see the sun..)

Need suggestions to move out to a warmer area...
SoCal or NorCal sounds very good.. but then maybe too expensive to live there, eh? and maybe not that safe for ITRs, expensive insurance, bla-bla-bla..

hm... this is actually ITR related... because I am considering to move to a warmer area where my R won't see salt and snow.. and also protected in a good neighborhood..

EDIT: I am open to any Warmer area than Pittsburgh.. so, no Toronto or Buffalo...

I used to live in Pittsburgh and now I live in SoCal. I love it. Now I wonder why I'm back in Pittsburgh during winter....

NorCal is fine, IF you can get a job here before you move out. Otherwise it is kinda hard to get work right now.

SoCal is fine, traffic is a bitch, it's fairly cheap, and the economy is not as bad as Norcal.

Something you might want to consider is like inland, Sacramento, Bakersfield, Fresno. Yeah yeah the *** hole of the world but it is waaaay better than east coast or midwest. Rent is really cheap inland too...

Further north tends to be a little cooler with the temperatures.

I moved from VA (and before that, Colorado) to Tampa FL after having my fill of ice filled winters. I love it. It gets cool sometimes in the winter (45-50, 38-45 at night) to remind you what time of year it is. But from mid September to mid December, then March to May, there is not a nicer place to live. True, it gets hot in the summer time, but it's at least consistant. Plus, we race year round down here, and the import scene is good, but not overwhelming like in California. If weather is your main love, you might want to consider California though.

I'm also in the same mindset/thought process as you. I live in Colorado and literally hate snow and Ice, I hate scraping it off windows, I hate walking on it, and I hate cold weather. I don't really hike or Snow ski so I surely won't mind leaving the mountains behind.
Are their any jobs available on either coast that pay pretty descent for a 22 year old w/ basically no college education but 4 years of various Tech Support backgrounds? I have been doing Tech support for Maxtor Hard drives for 1½ years currently.
Thanks for any info.

Ha-ha... I was born in a place near the Equator..
Living in Pittsburgh for 8 years hasn't changed my blood..
and lately it is getting worse.. too dry during winter, headaches, nosebleed, etc..

Florida sounds good too.. but I hate Mosquitos!!!!

hehe, another vote for AZ here. it should be a LOT cheaper than california, plus emissions requirements aren't quite so strict.

Yeah what Stumpy said,

Atlanta Ga. get a nice place in a pretty and affordable suburb and join the local Auto-X gang. You could also do Driving events at Road Atlanta. What better stuff to do in the nicer weather, close to Florida so you could just hop in and hit south beach.

Mind you I don't live in Atlanta but, have loads of family that relocated from NY ," Where I still am," and all want me to move too. Since my new Auto-X fetish has taken hold I am seriously considering it for a next 5 year move to a better standard of living, milder weather and tha ability to race alot more often.

Good luck,

A.
