98 Accord V6 Starting Problem
My girl has a 98 Accord exV6 sedan with an auto trans, the last few days we have had some starting problems. I guess at first someone said it was the battery, it was replaceda few days ago. I looked at it last night, checked the battery connections, everything was clean and tight- it does start right up sometimes, other times it just clicks as if something is stopping the starter from engaging. A couple of things I noticed-- when the car does start, the P on the gear indicator lights up, as well as the D4. Is that normal? If I remember right, on most cars, as well as my 93 ex, only the P should light up. So I manipulated the shifter up and down through the gears when the car wouldnt crank, put it back in park, and it started. She said she has also had problems with gears not engaging right away and having to reselect them. Is this a common problem? I asked if the d4 light always came on and she couldnt remember if that was normal. I figure someone here might know, I would really appreciate any help. My next step is to pop the console and eyeball the linkages, and clean it (ive never seen a car over 3 years old that wasnt disgusting around the shifter). Thanks for any help you guys can give me.
The neutral "safety" switch must be properly adjusted - the free play must be equalized.
I'd say this was a common adjustment for most automobiles.
Probably the console will have to be removed and the mechanisms and filth exposed - we even went as far as to remove the seat in the Volvo(a major undertaking now) - this makes things easier and exposes long lost goodies, and some not so good.
Bora, does this mean Bora as in VW Bora VR6 ??? One fast car !! And I think Jetta is a better name..

Thanks, thats what I was thinking as well.
Yeah- I put Bora badges on my Jetta to be different . Its a screamer alright, I have an intake, cat back and im getting a chip pretty soon. Definitely surprises people to see (and hear) it launch, most expect it to be slow..........
