weird road noise in del sol
Well let just start off by saying that this is one of the few times I've started a topic because like a good H-T'er (class of 03) I like to search first.
So here's the dilly yo...
My del slo (lol) makes a weird road noise when I exceed 100km/h (62mph) that sounds something like a 'woo ... woo ... woo' and as I go faster the intervals between the "woo's" decreases. The car came with OZ 16's wrapped in Toyo proxies 215/40/ZR16, and they are used but in decent condition. The car is dropped about 1,5 inch and the rear has a camber of about 1,5 degrees. The sound does appear to be coming from the back. I will be taking it to have the wheels rebalanced (for peace of mind mostly) and have the allignment checked but I just want to see if anyone has had a similar problem.
notes
a) I'm hoping to make it through the winter before getting new tires
b) everthing else is stock - no interior removed - or from the trunk
c) tested on various parts of the highway where asphalt quality differred
any help appreciated.

It's a whistle tip! Woo woo!!!

OMG! NO! NO! NO!
I just saw what the hell that was on de'intaniet, and by god no. The video was hillarious but Thank God we don't have that here in Greece. It's not that Woo.
Sanitary6Gen : they're on the way they're supposed to be. I'm hoping it's tire wear and the camber doing it, but I fear it could be bad allignment or even worse something else.
Anyone been through this? And I don't mean the whistle tip.

Can you feel a vibration in the seat, or just the noise? If it's just noise it's most likely the wheel bearing. If it were a problem with the tire you would definately feel it.
I recently replaced one of my rear wheel bearings and it's VERY easy. If it needs to be replaced expect to shell out ~$90-100 U.S.

I'm betting on the wheel bearing. Swap tire locations just to make sure. If the wheel bearing is really bad, you'll be able to feel it too though.

By that time you'll definately know where the noise/vibration is coming from though. It'll sound as if you had a Mack truck in the back.

Usually with wheel bearings you can put the car up on a jack and grab the wheel and try and rockit back and forth, you usually can feel some play in it if the bearing is really bad. Or maybe just hear a clunking, try that out.

Thanks everyone.
I can sleep (and drive) better at nights.
btw... random question (I figured it aint worth starting a new topic)... what the hell is TAKE27???? It's at the end of my tach and I've seen it on aftermarket RPM guages. I googled it but couldn't find anything. Anyone know?
