Default RWD wheel vs FWD wheel....differences?!?

Other than it being labeled for FWD or RWD, what are the fundemental differences between these two types of wheels? Also, which would work for an AWD car? Just a question I asked myself years ago while shopping for a truck.

The only thing that I can think of right now is center off-set. Cause you cannot really have a deep dish off-set on a FWD....well you can but it looks like sh*t.
Of course someone will prove me wrong in about 10 minutes but, that is how I learn.
