Default 4Dr civ/hybrid powerful?

Looking at our options here.

I have a civicEG coupe (EJ coupe to be exact) that is my love and project. I will never let her go.

I have a 4 year old and a new baby on the way (yay!) So, I need more room. I was thinking a 4 door with high mileage so I can get it dirt cheap and just swap it. Probably just a B16a or something. But you see where I am going with this. Plus, I can actually play with the aesthetics of this one that I wouldn't dare on my coupe.

For Example, this is a smooth looking 4 dr:

Anybody have experience with EK 4dr swaps? Results? Lame or Like?

sure it'll be a lil slower than a hb, or coupe...but not too much....all civics have the same wheel base, and the wheight diff isn't too bad...it should be fun car to drive in the end....I wouldn't worry about it too much unless you want this car to be for race only....for a street car..it should be plenty fun.

Yeah, I'll save race day (whenever I get to again) for the coupe. The sedan would be more of a transit car with some umph to it. I could actually put a simple kit on it without feeling quilty. lol

I am actually undergoing an Engine Swap in my 964dr. SHould be an excellent canidate for a sleeper, but im going with a usdm B18C. I havent begun the Swap into the car, cuz Im currently gutting it out to get a complete paint job. Ive even gone so far as to take off the gunk sound dending material it actually ways a considerable amount although not wieghed but I would say a good 30-40 lbs! in my 4dr. And they actually dont wiegh that much more at leas a dx doesnt compared to a hatch or coupe. the diffrences are these.

93 HATCHY COUPEY SEDANY

cx=2094 dx=2224 dx=2275
dx=2178 ex=2390 ex=2520
si=2326

96 HATCHY COUPEY SEDANY

cx=2222 dx=2262 dx=2319
dx2242 ex=2483 ex=2518

For Automatic just add around 60lbs give or take +/- 15lbs

96 sedan is only 97 lbs more than hatch you be the judge.
good luck

So you be the judge.

Don't like the CR-V. Like the B20 in something else, but the interior and exterior is just not my style. Plus, I am looking into a cheap 4 door, high mileage, etc. A roomier car, but none the less, a play car. As always.....

A friend of ours has a hybrid four-dour EK. Here's a few pictures:

For more pictures visit our site www.bustedshocks.com.

I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you wanted to ask him a few questions about the swap, his name is Brian and you can reach him at brian_chen1@yahoo.com.

For 99 and up civics ( prob 96 + )the Sedan is actually the lightest model.... a good 75 lbs lighter then the ex and even more so the Si.. so it would be the ideal candidate for a swap, especially if 4 doors is good for you.

Nice car man. I have an 8 month old daughter and my wife complains about getting her in and out of the coupe too. Ive thought about getting a new car, but Im already attached to mine. I do have a blasphemous option for you, how about a Mazda MP5? I kinda like em'. If I had the money Id get it as my "family" car.

For those who do the swap, is it legal to do it in CA?

nice EG coupe and congrats on the upcoming addition to your family (I mean the baby, not the EK hybrid sedan!)

I have a number of friends with EK-based sedans (actually the Acura EL 1.6, which is a Canada-only model built on the EK chassis but with some minor cosmetic differences and a 1.6L SOHC VTEC engine in stock form) that have done engine swaps, both good friends from the HADA Motorsport Club up here in the Toronto area. They've done some documentation of their cars on their personal webpages, which you can find at the follow addresses: http://www.pathcom.com/~barc/acura.htm http://www.geocities.com/hunter_el/

Maybe their experiences will help you decide which way to go with your swap. The first link doesn't have swap info yet (we just put a B16a2 into it, but you can e-mail him for info) and the second link has lots of info on his several swaps. He started out with several LS engines (blew 3 up!) and ended up with a B18C1 now. Being a former Prelude owner, I love the H22a engine and wouldn't mind an EK sedan with a H22a in it as a daily driver but then any of Honda's DOHC VTEC engines in an EK will make for a sweet ride IMO.

Enjoy the new project!

Dave

Who's that? I've never seen him around....

NEways....i love sedans - i think they're phat and it would be different to see a hybrid one!

A great idea would be a B20 powered sedan - enough torque and it'll be cheaper on gas

Yea, as long as the engine is the same year or newer and ALL smog equipment is hooked up. Also...you must take it to the state ref and have it pass both visual/emissions and get a sticker saying ur civic has a integ/lude engine.

Absolutely, positively go for it. Hybrid 4-doors rock.

You'll be so much cooler than the soccer moms rollin' in their SUV's!!!

Good luck on the swap whenever you do pick up a 4door. Luckily here in Japan, we can get 4 doors with the B16 already in them, hence my car--

I used to have a EK hatch, but ditched it for the 4 door. Main reason, the hatch was an A/T. Didn't want to go through the hassle of swapping the mission. I bought it with the full intention of swapping, but it never materialized and thus, I finally ditched it. Plus 4 doors are a more sleeper oriented vehicle, well except when my 5Zigen Border304Speed is in full glory!

No such thing as an EG coupe. I'm not being a jerk.
Just tryin to educate.
Nice ride by the way.
I understand. Most of the time I just say EG because most ppl will know what I am talking about. When I say EJ that say....what is an EJ? lol

Love the silver sedan with CFhood. Very clean. I am definitely looking for EK and prefer silver. Love the silver.
