Premium Gas VS Regular Unleaded 2004 Honda Accord LX - Does it Matter?
This seems to be my question of the day. I work for a Honda dealership and I remember having the discussion about premium vs regular gas over and over.
Some of the techs say don't use premium in New Hondas and some say it doesn't matter.
So, I put the premium in last fill up (by force of habit, I just traded in a chevy for it. The Chevy pinged bad without it). I have driven 254 miles and still have 1/4 of a tank left. Of course, I haven't used the A/C lately either.
Blah blah blah...
SO IS IT GOING TO HURT IT??? OR NOT???
Thanks!

yes. your car will spontaneously combust out or nowhere. hehe but seriously, the 87 octane gas just handles compression the least before igniting. high performance engines have higher compression ratios, therefore requiring higher octane gas to prevent knocking. but for your car, it wouldn't matter what gas you put in. it'll run perfectly fine on 87 gas, but if 92+ octane will make you feel better, then you know what type of gas to put in.
Good. Some were saying..Gasp! You did what? And the others says whatever you want to do. I like running Premium, it make my car drive happier and it makes me happy because of this great gas mileage i have discovered. Probably will be right at 300 miles when i have to fill it up. Note:I hate stopping for gas.
Thank you for your help!

So are you saying that you get better gas mileage with higher octane fuel even though most honda's have low compression engines?
