everybody who has a zc motor
has anyone gotten there zc motor blow up on them? if u did, what did you do to make it blowup? i dont want my **** to just blow up in my face after i worked on it so hard. Plus i sometimes rev my **** hella high like to 6500. Let me know if me reving my motor to much or to high will damge my motor.
Hahahahaha....mine is dead. I had a bad headgasket. I guess I should have taken the time to replace that when I replaced all the other gaskets. The motor is fine it just needs to have the gasket replaced. I found that it would be the perfect time to sell the zc setup and get a b16.
i never had a chance to blow mine as the car was stolen about 2 months after completing it... On the other hand my friend mark smoked his twice due to a 50shot of nitrous (FPR but with stock injectors, pump) he did this both times by bouncing off his revlimiter during a drag and mis-shifting... aka engine goes lean, sucking NOS only and bam... rings and pistons everywhere... probably the way to get around this is to work in an ignition cut at the ecu's revlimit and take out the ecus fuel cut completely by rechipping..... my 2c...
a lot of times the crank bearings die. um, 6500 isn't too high. redline for a stock ZC is 7200. on my stock 1990 CRX Si motor, i regularly rev it to 7200. that's fuel cut-off. i believe ZC cut-off is at around 7500. but then again, my B16 has left california and is making its way to Virginia...

Well not VA for me but PA.
My ZC was weak I guess. It lasted for a year and now it died. I was planning on getting a b16 anyway so now it just pushed the timetable up that much more.

a ZC blowing up noooowaaayyy...lol one guy in my area has gone through 2 motors one rebuilt twice, and on the other hand my roommate put nos on his zc for over a years worth of racing and it was still kicking when he sold the car..but i would do like the rest and buy a b16..oh yeah the only reason i think his motor held together is cause it was an automatic had a flexplate on it.

i put a zc in my hatch till the b20 goes in, sorry no love for the single cams. i rev that thing to 7500 everytime no problems doesnt burn a drop of oil and all i did when i got it was a full tune up, no t/belt or w/pump
i used to rev my zc up to 7500 all the time. bounced off the fuel cutoff a million times. and it handled a 60 shot no problem all the way up to redline, also accidentally bounced it while i was squeezin too. 6500 rpm aint gonna do **** to ur motor.
I just got mine in, havnt driven it on the street yet, but from the spots I have driven it, its fast as hell. I love the way it revs. Ive only hit 5500 RPM, and I get nervous(not used to reving that high, i used to baby my dx motor just to make it last), lol, my whole car other than motor is stock. For the time anyway...
Once I get the insurance on it, I will post a followup to this..

I've been running the hell out of my ZC for 3 + years, shifting off the limiter on the teg ECU, etc, and nothing has hurt it yet. It burns no oil, and runs like a charm. It feels just slightly less strong than when I got it.
